I'm having a problem withy my PPC 6700 that when I wake the device up by pressing the power button, or if the device wakes up for an incoming call, all I see for several seconds (anywhere from 1 to 20) is a blank white screen. If I tilt the screen just right, I can see "shadows" of my today screen or the incoming call screen. It's as if the brightness was turned up all the way for the first few seconds of power on. I've tried the glych cache registry setting with either the default, "16" or "32" values. These don't seem to help at all. I have Mortsaver installed, but I see the problem even when I unistall/soft reset the device. I also run MagicButton and Calendar+, both installed in main memory. I've searched this forum for a while now and have seen people complain of the same problem. Everyone always seems to point to glyph cache as the solution, but that hasn't done the trick for me.
This might be your last resort but maybe try hard resetting the device to see if it's a hardware problem or it was just some bad software that's causing it..
This sounds similar to the "slow start menu" problem. Try opening some basic programs, like the ones that come with the device, so that they are the only ones in the "recent programs" area. If you see a difference you've found your problem. If not then you should try a hard reset and add in your 3rd party programs one at a time.
I think you may be on to something. After running several "standard" apps (calc, wmplayer, file explorer, tasks), I'm not seeing the problem. Of course, I'll have to play around to see if I can figure out which program is at fault here. I have seen references to how to disable recent programs doing google searches (no luch with searching pdaphonehome today, hopefully they'll have that fixed soon). But I haven't been able to find what it is that you do to disable it.
Well, after trying various things, I still can't get the problem to go away. It seems to come and go. Its incredibly annoying. If anyone has any hints, I'd love to hear them.
First let me say this, up until now I have been very pleased with this device. Last night i woke up the phone and all i saw was a white screen. the phone is on and i can call it and answer, only thing is i cant see anything, the whole entire screen is WHITE. what can i do??? btw. i took out the battery and let it rest for a while, took out the sd card to no avail.

Your screen problem has nothing to do with the battery nor the SD card. You should try soft reset first. If it does not work, try hard reset.
If all fail, call tech support (Verizon has a toll free tech support line. I don't know about Sprint though) or take it back to the store where you bought it. The phone should still under limited warranty.
You don't need to see the screen to do a hard reset. just hold down both softmenu keys and poke your stylus into the little hole on the bottom of your phone. Then slide open your keyboard and hit the "y" key.
FYI,,,could have been liquid damage. I dropped mine in the pool and before I could get the battery off the screen went white. Took a couple of days of drying out before the screen went back to normal.
Great to hear that you got it traded out. This is one possible scenario that might explain what happened.
I have found a couple of threads about this, but no real solution or if it "normal" behavior for the 6700.
Sometimes when I turn mine one, I get a bright white screen for anywhere from 5 - 20 seconds. This is true before I even install any software. I tried the Glyph Cache change and it didn't help.
Are others seeing this same behavior? If so any solution? Sent it back and got another and didn't see the issue?
Just trying to determine if I need to bring mine back and get a replacement.

Hi, in the future, if there is an existing thread that discusses your topic of interest (as there is in this case), if you can please post to that thread instead of starting a new, redundant thread, that would really help me out a lot (I went ahead and merged the threads). Thanks!
