hack to shorten Vibrate?

Tried to search...its broken.

Any ideas on how to shorten the length of the vibrate? Seems a tad too long to me.

You need to change your audio ringer. The vibrate lenght is based on the length of your ringer legth. If your normal ring tone is short, your vibrate will be short.

Phone Alarm will also give you the option of short vibration cycles.

Just select a different ringer tone that is shorter for the particular event. The length of the vibration corresponds to the length of the .wav file or ringer tone.

Wouldn't this only work if we select ring and vibrate? I'm looking for a way to shorten the vibrate time when the sound is turned off.

1. Select a shorter wave file for the ringer for the event;
2. Have the ringer turned on for that event plus vibrate;
3. Turn the system volume down to no sound or 1 above via the slider.

You will now have a short vibration with no sound, or very low sound.

Thats great for someone that wants to keep their phone low all the time or something but i need to be able to just quickly put it on vibrate only and have the vib be short. I don't want to have to mess w all that when i can just hit the slider and choose vib, much simpler. So hopefully someone will figure out a hack. I did a hack to stop a pop up screen on my txt msg's out, i had to enter a new file and new commands. You can't tell me that it isn't possible to simply change a value in the vib command and make it shorter.

Jonny360--

Try it....I think it does what you want. Follow my setup, then use the slider to set both system and ringer to no sound. You will have no system sound, but a shorter vibration.

Just to humor you i tried it, i set the sound to voice beep, which is just one single beep. doesn't get shorter than that. turned it to vibe, it still vibs for like 4 seconds.

Did you have both "play sound" and "vibrate" checked? You need to have both checked. Even though you have sound checked, if you use the slider to set it at no volume you will not hear any sound, yet get the shorter vibrate.

i had it set to play both. Here the difference you want me to sit there and slide each slider down to zero and then have to slide them back up. I'm telling you i don't want to fuss w moving sliders, my fingers dont work well to slide them so i gotta use the stylus and thats too much work. I just want to push slider up, press vib, press screen, it takes .2 seconds do to that maneuver. So thats a fine idea for some others but i don't want to mess w the sliders. So were gonna have to find a hack still cause i don't think i'm alone in my opinion.

Are you using the slider on the left side of the 6700 between the two buttons? It moves them up and down for you when you slide up or down. There is no need to use your stylus or your fingers to control the volume of the system or ringer, the slider between the buttons controls them.

Also, there is no need to switch it from "on" to "vibrate" with this method....because you selected ring + vibrate it alread will vibrate but with no sound because you lowered the volume to none.

that slider only moves the device volume, not the phone volume. So the way i understand it a call would still ring through, while a txt will just vib, though i haven't been able to try it yet cause i don't have a house phone to call myself w.
