I think I'm screwed - Device password is wrong

I just set a password for the device using the Settings -> Personal -> Password option. I typed in something, 4 digits, that is easy for me to remember. I then rebooted the phone.

Now, when I type in what I thought I put in as the password, it is saying it is invalid.

Is there anything I can do? Does a hard reset fix this (other than having to start ALL over again...)?

Another strange thing: After I type in one or two attempts, the screen is there but if I try to tap the numbers, nothing happens. Weird.

This has NOT been a good day (work or now here at home with this thing).

With every invalid password entry, the phone makes you wait longer to try again. It's for security. I think you're screwed. Do a hard reset and backup your phone next time. Try Sprite Backup (beta works with WM5).

If you can't remember what the password is, i think a hard reset is the only thing you can do...that will fix it..

AH HA! But I did do a backup with Sprite (the beta).......

See, I'm not so dumb after all (other than I needed you to remind me that I had it....)

I tell you what, this has been a day I do NOT wish to repeat. Long and painful, topped off by this password thing. Then in my frustration, I forget that I was actually smart and did a backup. I think I will restore it and then go to bed before I hurt myself!!!

(Ok, you can stop laughing now.......)

I hope the restore doesn't restore the password... Did you add the password before or after backing up?
