wi-fi without broadcasting ssid

hi i just got my new ppc6700 and am trying to connect to my works wi-fi access point..it is set to not broadcast the ssid is there a way to manually enter this info and connect to it

You can reset the router with the little hole on the back (or you can get into settings) and then set it to broadcast the SSID. You can then encrypt the network, choose the password, and connect to it that way by finding it thru wifi on the 6700, and then accessing it. Sorry if not detailed enough, let me know. Ray

Turn Wi-Fi on. Then Start -->Settings--> Connections-->Network Cards--> Add New...

or, just click on the Wi-Fi icon then choose settings in the lower corner of the bubble. Select Network Cards--> Add New...

I guess I always did like doing things the hard way! Lol! I just thought if it wasn't broadcasting the SSID, the 6700 or other wireless device couldn't find it...

Disabling SSID broadcast does nothing for wifi security

Agreed. A good wifi "sniffer" can still find the network. Encrypting is the first step in protecting your network.

My router just got a firmware update that adds WPA2 encryption. Does the 6700 support this, or just WPA?
