I have my PPC 6700 for 6 days and so far all is well except for weird problems with Active Sync (4.0) via Exchange Server. When I first received it, I was able to set it up and then successfully sync. I then sync'd desktop stuff using the USB cable and afterwards I could no longer Active Sync via the exchange server. I did some research and decided to upgrade to Active Sync 4.1. after reconfiguring everything I was once again ok. I then ran into the problem again after using PIE for a while on my 6700. In this instance I did a soft reset of my 6700 and afterwards I was able to sync again. THen when I came into the office this morning, I d/l some anti-virus software for the device and performed an Active Sync in order to install it. Afterwards I can once again, no longer Activesync via the Exchange server. When I delete the server and then re-add it via Active sync on my laptop, I receive and error saying No exchnge server could be located. The error status that I recevie on my device is 0x80072EFD. Obviously there is something flaky going on. Does anyone have any ideas?
I am having the EXACT same issue and have opened a new case with Microsoft. The mobile team is clueless and are passing me to the Exchange team. After they call me on Monday, I'll let you know what they said.
After talking with my Exchange Admin, he was convinced that exerything on the server side was ok. Until his own HP WM5 device stopped syncing as well. He checked and the web service on the exchange server was stopped (he's not sure why though). After restarting it I am up and running with no problems whatsoever.
I wish it was that easy. I am the exchange admin, and I haven't seen any issues with the server. In my case, it almost always stops working after it is docked. After that point, I would have to reset it to get it to work again. I haven't had it docked all weekend and only had to reset it once but that was because all of my network was unreachable. Normally I can still get internet access but it will not sync with exchange. I get an error message with a support code of 0x80072EE4. Which apparently means nothing, because even Microsoft didn't know what it meant.
I cant even get mine to sync with the exchange server. It seems as tho my security cert is not valid on the exchange server but the Exchange admin says it is.
We have deployed several Sprint PPC-6700 phones at our company. All of them, at "random" times are experiencing the "waiting for network" error message after doing an ActiveSync. The underlying status code is: "0x80072EFD". One thing that we have noticed is that this error condition is more likely to occur imimediately after doing a soft reset. Like the others on this thread, we are looking for a solution to this problem. Thanks.
I'm posting to bring this thread back to life. I have a Verizon VX6700 with the WM5 OS update installed. I am running Exchange Server 2003 in my office. The 6700 can connect to the Exchange Server from my desktop, via internal wi-fi through my AP, or through Verizon's network. When I connect it to my laptop--even with my laptop connected by ethernet and logged into the network identical to my desktop, it cannot update or browse the internet. Obviously, this has something to do with my laptop, but I have no idea what. I've made sure firewall is disabled and have checked that I have internet access from the laptop, including to the Exchange Server/OMA. Any ideas as to why the 6700 can reach the Exchange Server and internet through my desktop but not through my laptop?
Okay, after my last post, I found the fix, thanks to a post on another thread--at least I found the fix for my situation getting this error message. Chris DeHerrea actually found it and posted it on his website, pocketpcfaq.com and Vladimar23 found it there and posted it on another thread. Apparently, some desktop or laptop machines will have installed a layered service provider that prevents a connected WM5 device from passing through to the internet. Chris posted on his sight a registry tweak (for the desktop, not the WM5 device) that fixes the problem. I installed it and everything is working fine. I past from Vladimar's post below:
