Excellent! You may wish to see the removing junkware thread in this forum as well (http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/s...light=junkware). I don't have a Verizon 6700, but on the Sprint 6700, the method you just outlined is what we do to prevent Sprint's junkware from being installed. By utilizing this method, some necessary programs, like OTA programming for example, don't get installed thus it is necessary to go back and install them one by one. The thread I referenced will give you a pretty good idea on how to go about doing that.
Nice find! Also, you should check out the Extended ROM unlocker, where you can unlock the extended rom (which is where all the custom verizon apps are stored) and delete out whatever that is causing the crippling.
Originally posted by samg916 Simply reboot right after a hard reset, before it has a chance to load its "custom" verizon applications. And it is fully uncrippled.
i believe i suggested that in the other thread....though i'm suprised my suggestion actually worked!
there is probably a few of the custom software pieces you want to install though...though i'm sure none of it is very critical.
can you tell me excetly how you did it???? so hard reset and then what?? what program not to reinstall???? i just install 10 app and hate to go through a hard reset. also i do not believe there is any vzw program cd to reinstall any program. if we remove something else by accident i worry i cannot reinstall it.
i still cannot figure which program i need to uninstall to get wifi and phone to work together, anyone???? i use total commander and have the list in extended but just no idea which one to remove
I doubt Verizon would ship your XV6700 different than others.
Lets try to figure out why your registry is different. What have you done to your unit from its "stock" state. Stock meaning you turned the unit on, it did all the normal installs, reset, and you started using it.
Is it possible that the MutexFlag is only a Verizon key? Since Sprint doesn't have this key/string does that mean that the wifi and phone capabilities are still there?
