Does this phone work flawless for anyone?

I see a lot of complaints, however, I'd like to know does this phone work rock-solid perfect for anyone? No lockups, etc?

Thanks!

works great for me even before all the mods. i dont understand why people are having so many issues. it could be that most people dont know about computers.

Nothing is perfect. Specially cutting edge stuff. If you want flawless, stick to a rotary phone.

You see a lot of complaints because people usually only post when they have a problem. People out there that don't have issues with their phone never post about their experiences. As dmack said, nothing is perfect...

I'm not looking for perfect in all regards, just in the phone operation, I would just like a phone that gets its calls without locking up. I had issues with my i730 which I was able to resolve, so I don't miss calls with it at all.

I don't care about slowness...program crashed..etc..just want to know if people are able to get their calls all day long without having to softreset, etc..

I've never had any kind of lock up what so ever while using the phone. And I can not say that when I was using my Treo 650. It may not be "perfect" but I really can't complain about it overall.

DITTO.

this phone rocks. ive only locked up the phone 3 times. twice when i was messing with stuff and the third time when i dropped the phone and the battery came flying out. it didnt want to "turn on" after i stuck the battery back in. i nearly sh)t myself.

other than that, im running a lot of the applications that make the phone look and run a lot more efficiently and it works near flawlessly. thank god!

Thumbs up

My phone used to lock up often, DSOD's and then the speaker died. My new phone has been working virtually flawless, certainly with regards to making and receiving phone calls.

As close to flawless as I can expect here. I have the old-logo version and I sure hope it holds up.

FWIW, I've had fewer issues with my 6700 than I had with my Treo 600.

The only issue I've really had is with PIE's crappy handling of web sites not designed for small screens. The Treo's browser was great at that.

Other than that, I could only yell at developers for not updating programs for WM5 fast enough.

If you are doing a bunch of stuff on your PPC and you all of a sudden get a phone call, there is a chance good 20% chance that you will not be able to take the call. It happens to me at least 1-3/week that someone will call me or I'll have to make a call and the phone will not let me. I've learned to live with this and know how to get around it. It also happened to me when I was using the 6600. The phone can and will get confused on what to do when you're on a data call and a voice call comes in. I will admit that I am a power user and can sometimes be doing 4 things at a time (EOTA, GOOD, Streaming Music, Browsing the web) when this phone call arrives, which is probably why I get it more often. Also, the 6700 handles this a lot better than the 6600 did, but it still pisses me off at times. That's not counting the times that you try to make a call and it says its unable to do so until you manually close your data connection and then try again. Sometimes you even need to bounce the radio on the phone - worse case a soft reset.

So, NO, this phone is by far NOT perfect - but for the amount of stuff I can do with it (I no longer haul my laptop around) I can live with it and know how to get around the issues and I love it! I make my living fighting IT fires and so I'm use to the flaws working with the latest and greatest will cause.

I used to have problems getting calls when I had the 6600 when it first came out. Beep of death.... But with the 6700 I have not had a single issue that wasnt self-induced.

So far mine has performed flawlessly. I wouldn't consider myself a power user but more like an average business user. I check email quite often (active sync via exchange) browse the web, games, and every once in a while music. I don't believe that I have missed a call yet. Things in general work fine if I'm reading email and a call comes in or doing something else I haven't had an issues getting the call. Overall TWO THUMBS UP!

Talking

This is my first PPC device (or PDA of any kind really), and I'm especially happy with it. Granted, I have not pushed this phone much beyond bubble breaker but soon plan to start serious multitasking. The slow, methodical pace I'm using is due to the fact that the PDA is new for me and not a comfort feeling with the device.

The phone makes and receives calls just fine, I've experienced no major lockups (though I have performed the sporadic soft reset to fix no modem found issues--to me the soft reset is not a huge deal compared to a windows xp machine booting), the EV-DO has been wonderful.

All in all, I would agree with the sentiments of others, it's probably not a perfect device, but thanks to the useful resources here, I'm extremely excited about the possibilities of what I will soon be able to do with the device (as validated by some of the other people on this board)

I think most of the issues I relate to are due to multitasking the crap out of the phone. But like I said, it only happens 20% of the time. The other 80% I will see a bubble come up with my incoming call and all the data: music/mail/web, stops and starts again once I hang up. Its cool to hear the music on my headphone stop, the ringer start, me take the call, then all of the music to stream again I think its a perfect phone but I would not recommend it to people that make a lot of calls and live by their phone: day traders, real estate, sales, etc... you might miss a call.

I too am quite happy with the device. I use it for nearly everything. Of course, I am also trying to push the phone and see where its limits are. The PDA part I am also new to and am enjoying greatly. The ability to multitask while I am on the road or at a clients datacenter, to me, is priceless. The only concerns I have are that I need a browser that supports multiple windows (work website requires it for entering parts info). If I could get that, I do not think I would ever need to be on my home computer except for personal time (gaming).

The only cons I see with the unit is that it does exhibit lockups when doing 4 or more things at once and recieving a call. Replying to an email and recieving a text message at the same time has been known to cause me to have to soft reset. Though as someone else has explained, it is no different than having to reboot a windows XP machine.

I plan soon to begin to take advantage of the GPS capabilities of the unit, though I have already purchased (before the 6700) a DeLorme Streets and Atlas 2006 with the USB GPS. It was flawless for me on the laptop, but hard to justify spending another $100 on a bluetooth one for my PDA.

If anyone asked me if I would reccomend the device? I would tell them as long as you needed the PDA functions and did not want it for a cell phone only with the occasional data usage, it is worth the cost.

In two months I have not had a single problem that wasn't caused by my own ignorance of how the device was supposed to work. For a complex device running an all-new OS, I think it is remarkably stable.

No phone works flawless but after I did a hard reset to my phone and got rid of most of the mods I did. My phone is working great. LOL it seems like the more I mod it, the more unstable it got. LOL

i think alot of ppl on here are tweakers. They like to mess w stuff, i'm in the same boat but not near to the degree alot of these ppl seem to be. My phone is still pretty much how i got it out of the box. And on that note it works great for me, I've never had it lock up, get great battery time, i'm very happy w my purchase.
