please define in simple terms what it means?
overclocking basically means speeding up your PPC's CPU - so it processes info faster. Default is about 450Mhz...so 624Mhz is a good (624Mhz/450Mhz-1 x100)% increase = 38.7% increase.
Overclocking normally means more battery drain, however.
Over clocking is basically speeding up your processer. The 6700 CPU runs at 416mhz out of the box. I theory the processors in the 6700 should be able to run at 624mhz. Remember thats in theory. If you overclock your phone some will be able to reach thoses speed but most won't.
I am currently overclocking my 6700 but i was only able to achieve speeds of 520mhz on my overclock. But even at this speed I notice a difference in my 6700 perfromance. I perked up quite abit. I hardly get any lag at all.
The downside to overclocking is that it can cause your battery to drain alot faster. On PC if you overclock you can run a risk of frying your processors but I don't think this is a real issue on the 6700 because of the way the processor is set up. I have to check this program out to see if its any good.
The program that I use PHM Pocket hack master. I like this because it has a great scaleing fuction. By scaleing I mean that my phone processor switches between 3 different speeds 208mhz 416mhz and 520mhz. When my phone doesn't need the processor speed it runs at 208mhz but if im playing a video or listening to music it runs at 520mhz. Its like haveing the power on demand. This is great on the battery life too.
I am going to run this program and report back what I think of it compared to PHM.
Well I am back rather quick I might add. I am going to agree with deafpatrick. This program keeps locking up my 6700. I am going to wait to see what other people report before I mess with this program again. From what I read about the program it seems pretty comparible to PHM.

With the three speed scaling working how much better did your battery get? Is it significant?
I'd love to find an overclocking program that worked like "xscale control" that I used on my g1000. It ran deeply in the background, so much so that it wouldn't show up on the running programs screen. It didn't step the speed, but it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately it shuts down every time the 6700 sleeps. I hate having to have hackmaster running minimized all the time.

thx
I theory it should. By scaling to let say 208mhz your phone should use alot less battery life. I cant really say if I have seen a difference because I have been scaling since I first got my phone. U might want to do a search for PHM and battery life. U might get an answer that way.
The PHM website seems to be down due to some kind of industrial accident near their office where they run / ran their server...as near as I can tell from their custom 404 page.
Anyone know where else to track down the cpu scaler and their traylaunch app?
Since I just posted the v2.93 binaries last night, some of you might have gotten the v2.92 binaries instead.
Make sure its version v2.93. Look at the downloaded ZIP or EXE file, it should have 2-93 in it.
Version 2.93 was developed on the PPC-6700, so I'm highly confident that it works. The symptoms reported so far are for the older version.
A lot of you folks don't know, but the PPC-6700 already has a built in scaling that scales from 104 to 416MHz, its just that you do not have control on the speeds.
Use XCPUScalar on this PDA to complement and lock down on a speed, mine runs stable at 624MHz and can even go upto 663MHz but I don't recommend that speed, but 624MHz is stable. It looks like the processor in this PDA is 624MHz that has been down clocked to 416MHZ.

Sean48238 did you have the current version? I'm interested in getting more speed out of this but I don't want it if it locks up. Are you sure you had the latest version?
i also just downloaded the trial and loaded it up. Under the "about" tab it shows it to be XCPUScalar 2005 ver 2.93 Trial. So far it seems to run ok however i haven't used it much. It did not lock up at all.
I'm gonna use it a while before I buy it just to make sure.
2.93 works as well as PHM but there is one problem I have with both programs.
When playing mp3s, or basically anytime there is sound, be it from the OS or mp3s or a movie, basically once sound is coming out of the speakers, if I am running XCPUScalar or PHM and I touch the screen while my ppc is makin sound the sound starts to distort, as soon as i quit the overclocking program I can touch my lcd and the sound does not sound distorted. This happens wether I scale or not, wether the ppc is set to 624mhz or 200mhz constant, or wether I set scaling from 200 to 400 or 200 to 624. And it happens with both PHM and your program.
Any clue as to why that might be happening even when I underclock the cpu below its rated speed? It is really weird and irks me alot.
Actually this seems like a nice program. I am limited to what I can test because I only have a trial version. I would love to evaluate the scalier feature I may have to pay to check this out. This has a few nice features thats not on PHM. I love the indicator on the bottom of the today screen that actually tells you what speed your 6700 is running at. Nice Job with that. I do have a few questions for Immier.
1. Can you create your own speeds?
2. What do the other too Icons on the bottom of the today screen do? I believe that one is for soft reset but Im not sure what the other one if for. Everytime I touch it, it just turns my 6700 off. (LOL I found the answer to this in the options menu its exactlly as I said above.)
3. What is the screen flicker filter for?
So far I am really liking this program. My PHM might get drop for program. I must admit that XCPUScalar is much easier to use and for the newbies I think this is a better choice.
The mp3 distort I have not seen with my program, but may be unique to this PDA only. I will look into that. What happens when you play the mp3 from main memory as opposed to the mini SD disk. Any difference? I can test that but I currently don't have a mini SD card yet - need to buy one.
Sean, yes that was the soft power button, soft reset and speed icon that you are referring too.
I support all working speeds for the PPC-6700, so I don't allow custom speeds to make the program easy to use.
The screen flicker filter is not to be used on the PPC-6700 (does nothing), it was created for some WM2003 PDA's that had terrible flicker whenever the speed changed and turning this on solved the problem.

Ok thanks for that update Immier. I would have to say that this program is a must have for the newbies. Im not a a newb and I might have to get this one just for the ease of use. This one is pretty idot proof and I don't have to do that stupid speed test. Great build Immier.
I will try to keep you informed on any bugs I find once get that license.
