Re: OK, this is weird........ (email issue)
did you read the post on how to setup SMTP? you have to set it so that it uses authentication when sending outgoing mail. the reason why the sprint one sends on 1x is that it is on sprint's network so the mail server is going to allow outgoing mail from it even if you do not authenticate first.
when you are on wifi, you are not on sprint's network anymore. you are actually on your cable network's network, or whoever elses. so when you try to send using sprint's SMTP server, it sees you as an unauthorized user, and will not let you send out. you need to authenticate with your sprint username/password so that the server knows who you are...then it will let you send out.

My gmail will only download messages on 1x and says "the message cannot be signed and/or encrypted" when I try to send (also says this onm wifi). On wifi it tries to login and always goes back to user/pass auth screen.
sprint works fine on 1x to send and receive but will not send on wifi, it says "messages cannot be downloaded to your device. Make sure you are connected and that your email settings are correct, then try t o download again".
This is weird, why would the type of data connection matter?
