Red Dot Lock

I'm trying to decide between the 6700 and keeping my A900 until the 700w comes out for sprint. To this end, I've played alot with the 6700 at the sprint store, and I discovered a potential annoyance. I didn't figure out a way to "lock" the red dot key (like caps lock would lock the shift key) to type in a number.

For example, if I am sending a SMS to 5551212 (not in my phone book) it seems like I'd have to press <dot+5>,<dot+5>,<dot+5>,<dot+1>,<dot+2>,<dot+1>,<dot+2>.

It seems like there should be a way to do this by "locking" the dot key, and simply typing 5551212

Any way to do this?

There are other great tips like this in the owner's manual. You should read it.

According to the reviews of the 700W I've just read, the phone is only available on Verizon network and does not support wireless modem/tether mode.

That could be a deal-breaker for you -- so you might not want to wait for the 700W anymore.

The PPC-6700 is what the Treo 700w aspires to be but never WILL be! Palm can ride this gravy-boat only so far before it has to pull in to port, and I think the 700p will prove that!

The 600 and 650 should have already proven it. Each of those was just a rehash of the 300.

This just proves my consistent argument that Palm needs to overhaul their own OS, instead of trying to gimmick out into territory that others are better suited to.
