Bluetooth Headset Hack to enable audio gateway

i want to share hack i found for WM5 and Bluetooth headsets. it allows to connect headset not just during the call but anytime you want. i use it to listen MP3s.

Found Microsoft registry page that explains how to enable headset connection.

in short:

1) go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway registry key.
2) add Value: Capability = 37 This enables Voice Tag support.

I also added OutgoingCallOption = 1 That controls how outgoing calls handled.

This worked like a charm on my SMT5600 with WM5. If press and hold my "dial" button on headset, it works in the same way it did with WM2003 and connects to the the phone without trying to actually dial anything since there are no voice tags.

My 6700 already allows me to listen to mp3's on my bt headset. I don't think you need a hack for this. Just press the button on your headset to transfer the 6700's audio to the headset. Pretty simple.

Yes with my plantronics 640 i just start the audio and hold down the button on my headset to transfer the signal. It works like a charm, I never miss a UCONN game now..

outgoingcall option

How do you add the outgoing call option? I have an annoying glitch that this hack might fix.

I use my 6700 to play audio and mp3's I plug it in to my car stereo with a stereo adaptor in the headphone jack.

I use my bluetooth headset to make and answer calls.

Here is the glitch When I receive or make a call with the stereo adaptor plugged in, it works for a about a minute and then ends the call. The easy fix is to unplug the adaptor, but it's very annoying to plug back while I'm driving.

If anyone has a suggetion to solve this I'd be eternally in your debt.
I use a jabra 250v headset.

With HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway highlighted. Click edit > New Dword Value the enter "OutgoingCallOption" under value name and "1" under value data.

I didn't notice any change, but maybe it'll help your problem.

Hey jrider,
DO you have the SDDialer installed on your 6700? I do, and the problem is, if I want to transfer audio from the 6700 to the BT headset, if I hold the button on the headset, it starts SDDialer...I can hear the audio from my mp3, but as soon as SDdialer times out, it transfers the audio back to the handset and closes the BT connection.

Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

-David
