Manually disconnect internet??

When i close internet explorer or when im done checking my mail....most of the time...im still connected. I use magic button to close applications.

Problem is sometimes when I try to connect again, it doesnt...... even though it still shows EV with arrows from earlier. And the only way to fix it is to do a soft reset, which is annoying. Is there a way to disconnect the internet when im done using it so I dont have this problem? Thanks

Turning off and on phone service will let you avoid soft reset.

INTERNET OFF

Go to START/SETTINGS/SYSTEM/MEMORY/RUNNING PROGRAMS and tell it to stop all or just the ones you want to stop.

OK you guys won't believe how easy this is. Maybe this tip has been posted but I haven't seen it yet.

If you want to totally disconnect from a data session (either 1X or EVDO), simply push and hold the END button. I think you have to hold it for maybe 2 seconds or so. You can watch your connection drop and let go after it does. It does not shut the phone down, it will just disconnect the data.

I tried this out... but all it did was shut the phone off.

Hmm, works every time on mine. I do have the Alltel version though, maybe that makes a difference?

When you guys talk about the "End button" do you mean the End softkey on the phone screen or the red phone hardkey? On my phone, holding down the End softkey doesn't terminate my data session, nor does it turn my phone off. Holding down the hard End key ends a data session and turns off the phone (flight mode).

Interesting, mine (Sprint) doesn't work that way. Pressing the end key more than about a second turns on flight mode.

Are you by any chance running the hack that disables the end key from turning on flight mode? Maybe this hack allows the end key to turn off data w/o turning off the phone? Or, as you suggest, perhaps the Alltell phone has a bit different programming.

I'm not running a hack. All I have to do is press and hold the hard button end key. As soon as I see the data connection is off, I release the button.

It sounds like the Alltel 6700 has the flight mode hack ...do a search for the flight mode hack. This will fix the going into flight mode when holding the end key..
