Why can't I hear unless I'm using a headset?

Okay, so this started today... I can't hear, nor can people here me unless I'm using a headset all of the sudden... Phone has never been dropped or damaged in anyway... Is this a setting that I've hosed or something??? I called and they did some troubleshooting and now they're sending me out another phone under mft warranty...

Any help??? I tried searching but couldn't think of appropriate keywords other than hear and headset and those brought back a ton of threads...

TIA...

I know on some ipaqs, there is a switch in the headset plug hole that can get stuck. Putting the headset in and out a few times can fix the switch.

Me too!

By golly, this is the same thing I'm currently experiencing. Once I plug in the headset, the problem randomly disappears. It does sound like a stuck switch.

Anyone else?

There are at least 4 hardware issues I am well aware of, the speakerphone sux, the mini sd drive sux, the usb jack sometimes not recognizing its plugged in which sux and the headphone jack ring gets stuck and hey that sounds like sux.

Its a known problem by the users, whether or not the manufacturer knows or cares more importantly or will have a recall ultimately is doubtful. Guess we'll need to wait for 2nd generation latest greatest technology but until then just plug the included headset in and out a couple a times. Usually does the trick. Im thinking abt spraying some wd 40 up there but... Ill let someone else try it first.

wd 40

WD 40 will work, but dont spray it up in the headphone hole, just spray it on the tip and insert it in and out several times. that should loosen up the contacts to move back to their correct position.
