I have MP3s loaded onto my miniSD card main directory , not in a folder I am not able to assign a MP3 to a contact as a ringer , any Ideas I want to keep the MP3s Stored on the Card and not on the Device so that I can rotate MP3 ringers easier .

That's probably because it's been discussed...anyways, you need to change the ringtone location in the registry to point to the SD card...please note that it is not recommended as it takes time to load the SD card when the phone wakes up so most of the time, the mp3 will not be loaded in time and the default ringotne will be used...

so then my best bet would be to convert them to Wav and then have them play in the ring directory is that correct ?

no need to convert...just put the mp3s in the windows/rings directory...for best performance, you should cut down the mp3 file so it loads quicker

as many as your storage memory can hold...it really depends on how big your files are..

Ring tone length

Just how long or how large can a ring tone be? I saw a link for a splitter but it was for mpeg audio and not wav or mp3.

I found some interesting ring tones but they seem to too long. When placed in the proper location, they come up as options for ring tones and notifications but won't play - I assume they are too long.

What are the requirements?

Here is a fun one

Use MP3 Trim...google it and it's free.
I trim the tones down to my desired part of the song and make it about 18-20 seconds.
Then load them and configure them in your windows/rings folder.
