There is a company that does a great job painting laptops, ipods, etc. Ask them about the ppc66700 and they should let you know...

where would oyu acquire a dummy model?

thing is; how easy [or hard] would it be to replace the casing and all teh buttons without totally screwing something up?

of course, if you know people at a sprint store, a tech could do it, and if he screws something up, well then..thats on him.

Of course there is no way to effectivley paint the phone with out complete disassembly. There's also no way to completely disassemble the phone without voiding the warranty.
So Logic 101 says, paint=void warranty

Well the first company mentioned takes laptops and ipods and paints them, so I would assume they will disasemble the 6700, paint it and put it back together. For me its my second line so Idont mind being away from it.

As far as warranties, who cares? With the sprint warranty you just "lose" it.

Someone should tell e-grips about this. Would have saved a lot of angst in the thread where they wanted to borrow a 6700.

I've tried to take apart my phone, but I didn't want to break any clips. I was thinking about painting it black like the verizon one. Maybe I'll actually do it.

because it looks like it doesnt cover the sides, nor any buttons; so you have this cool graphic that only covers about 4/5ths of the phone. not to mention it looks cheesy and it's almost guaranteed that the skins wont fit tightly/neatly around the buttons, as they haveto give a little extra room around the buttons for placement.

i'm a fan of style/aesthetics and i like everything i have to look good [as noted in the headset thread -- i stuck with the plantronics 640 because it looked better than everything else, and i chose to deal with the slight static issue]

If a reputable company like colorware offered painting for the 6700 or 6600 I would have my money in hand!
