Question wifi security limitation on ppc-6700

After being unable to connect to my home wifi network with my ppc-6700, Linksys tech support said I had to reduce my security from WEP 128 bit to 64 bit. I did so, and was able to connect; however, I find it unbelievable that Microsoft's latest Mobile OS doesn't recognize or work with 128 bit security.

Can anyone verify the limitations of the Mobile 5.0 OS in this regard?

Thanks.

I haven't played with wi-fi yet but it should work with WPA, which is more secure than WEP anyway. Does it work with WPA?

I guess I'll try to get it connected to my home wireless network with WPA... never took the timie before.

No problem here with 128-bit WEP. It picks up my neighbors' unsecured wifi networks well, too

It doesn't seem to have the necessary options to log into larger wifi networks. I am not able to log into my schools wifi for example.

My university also uses PEAP Authentication for wireless access. You can find how to configure for pocket pc 2003 here.

http://www2.auckland.ac.nz/wireless/pocketpc.htm

However some settings may differ.

I just noticed that setting for windows xp sp2 in our uni is very similar. However i am not sure whether you have to download EC root certificate and verisign root certificate in order to work in you wireless network.

I remeber with my undergrad that to use the wireless you had to go to the tech place and give them your mac address to register it. After that you could use it anywhere. An old way of doing it to limit access to students only and reduce strain on the network

STi, yes you will need to have your universities root cert installed on your device. I can assure you that peap, wpa-psk,wpa-tkip and wpa with radius backend works fine on my 6700 and other WM5/WM2003 devices
