Laptop WIFI Disconnects when PPC6700 is connected via usb

Anyone else dropping thier wifi when their PPC6700 is connected via USB? I am using a 10.0.0.X range for my wifi and the from what I can see the PPC is assigning a 169.X.X.X of some sort, so it's not an IP issue. It's just plain wierd. My wired connection appears to work fine when the PPC6700 is connected, just my wifi dies. Once I disconnect and reboot the laptop I can connect again.

Thanks for any help,
aXiMus

btw, google searches have turned up nothing.

similar issues

Hi

I have similar issues when I connect via USB.

I am on a dell laptop with xp sp2 and exist in a wireless environment, and i've noticed (although not thoroughly explored) that when I connect my pda via USB, my wireless resets on my laptop....although it always comes back on.

I'll take a closer look and see if I can connect any extra dots.

From what I can see it seems to be activesync, I just did a disconnect and my wifi came back. err, why would it kill wifi and not a wired connection.

did some looking into this matter and I found it seems to have something todo with activesync and WPA.
Everything appears to work fine with WEP.

Question

I too am having this problem of my wireless disconnecting when syncing my ppc6700. Unlike one of the previous posters, my wifi does not reconnect. I have to reboot my laptop before I am able to succesfully connect to my wifi network again. I am using WPA and an Intel 2200BG built-in card with the latest drivers from intel's website. I also notice that if i'm connected with wired ethernet that it briefly disconnects and reconnects when syncing as well. Is this a problem with activesync 4.1??

i've experienced this both at home:

mac filtering, no wep, no wpa

at the office:

wpa, key, etc

and on vacation:

wide open, no security at all

Soooo

The only thing consistent for me is the XPS laptop from Dell with it's Dell TrueMobile Bluetooth Module, my 6700, and Activesync 4.0 build 4358

Anyone else have that issue?

I always reconnect, sometimes trillian doesn't even drop, but it's definately related to activesync as far as I can tell

Well, like I mentioned in my previous post. SInce I have switch to WEP at home from WPA my problems have disappeared. I think something in ActiveSync breaks WPA. Since I have no file server operating on my home network, WEP is more than sufficient for security, especially when combined with mac filtering. My setup is as follows

3Web HiSpeed cable internet,
Linksys WRT54G wireless router w/WEP 128 and mac filtering.

hp dv1240ca laptop
ppc6700
activesync 4.1

activesync and wep seem to play well.
activesync and WPA = no go.

I have noticed this as well. thought it happens on my tower as well. thought it was something to do with my work laptop, since my company uses keyfobs and 3 other security measures all rolled into the system.
I set my pc on wireless using a linksys usb wireless card and sure enough...the moment I set my pda on the cradle, it killed the wireless. though I did note that while in the cradle, the 6700has issues using EVDO. perhaps it has something to do with this as well?
