Weird USB issue with the phone

I use a laptop as my primary machine.

I can sync fine if I plug the USB from the 6700 directly into a USB port on my laptop.

But if I try to plug the USB into a USB hub connected to my laptop windows says 'unrecognized device etc etc etc' and I can't sync at all.

Any ideas?

That's a sure sign you've got a cheap or faulty USB hub. One last thing to try though would be to plug the hub into a different USB port on your computer, and try a different cable from the hub to the port if you have one. Is the hub self-powered? If so, try unplugging its power (it should still work). If it's not powered then try picking up a new, powered hub. They're fairly inexpensive. Belkin is a decent brand, and there are others.

Good luck.

Dan

thanks for chiming in Dan.

What is weird is that I have other devices plugged into the USB hub and they all work perfectly (external harddrive, external soundcard, mouse, DVD burner), but this phone is giving me problems...

SAME ISSUE

I have the same issue. I am not using a cheap hub. I have Belkin powered hub. I can use all 4 ports for any other item i have and they all work fine. If I use the phone in any port I get the same error 'unrecognized device etc etc etc'

I have tried 4 different ports on my laptop with the hub same issue. I just have the phone and charger plugged in and it works fine. I would much rather use the hub, but oh well I guess I just have to use the work around until enough people have this issue the MS will look into the driver issue.

I only had this issue after I moved to Activesync 4.1

Also noticed if I turned off the phone then back on when it was plugged in, it would fine the phone though the hub.

It could be power related. With so many devices on it. Is the hub externally powered? You could try removing everything else from the hub except the phone....

Did you try another hub? Make sure it's a powered USB2.0 hub.
