I have all of my contacts saved in outlook but because I don't have a regular email(outlook, microsoft) I can't get my 6700 to transfer the contacts, I have looked at ACT but I don't want to pay for a program to sync my damn contacts....I just really need help here

I have the same problem but no one knows/has the solution. I'm using outlook 2002 sp3 that came with office xp. Using active sync 4.1. Contacts are not shared between outlook and 6700. I have only 2 contacts in outlook added to see if it makes a difference and 4 currently in my contacts but no way of backing them up or transfering them other than the very tedious method of writing them down and typing them back in to the 6700. Also I don't know if this has anything to do with it but under programs there is no picture for pocket outlook. Qwest is the cell provider - similar to sprint but they add Nothing to the phone.

Had to solve it on my own I guess. Also solves error code 8503001f if you get that in activesync. In activesync click file -> delete mobile device while device is not connected to pc. When you plug in the 6700 again it will ask what you want to sync and that's it. Should work. Still would like to know how to back them up to a file in case of a hard reset though.

I don't know what is causing your issue but an alternate way is to save the pim.vol file that is on the root of the PPC...it contains all your appt, contacts, etc. This should help at least until you solve the outlook issue.

I have Outlook 2002 & ActiveSync works seemlessly with my contacts. I have about 100 contacts, & whether I make the change on the PC or the 6700, it updates the older contact entry.

I'd be happy to share my setup to see where it varies from yours.

sync error with Contacts

I had a similar issue and solved it with an uninstall of outlook and reinstall. The suggestion of the reinstall of Active sync would work as well.

The possibility is that you may have a PST problem as well, try running the ScanPst.exe to repair it.

As far as the sync part not working just deleting the device in activesync worked fine. I can now enter new contacts with the pc and they show up in the 6700. No need to reinstall anything. The pim.vol file - if I save it will it save the contacts and PIE favorites after a hard reset? THanks for the help. This looks like the place to be for 6700 advice. Also does the pocket outlook picture show up under the programs?
Quest has little support for the product and but they add nothing to the device except a picture of a "Q" on boot. Nothing else is added by them.

mrdittles,

Is it just the contacts? how about calendar, tasks, etc. Early issue for me, it was my zone alarm firewall causing the problem. Sorry if you've already covered this........
