6700 Boot up time slow.

Man I don't have my device overloaded with apps but when I first turn in on it takes about 4-6 seconds before anything will work.
It is on but frozen and then after about 4-6 seconds it humms right along.

The bad part is when the phone rings while in standby, I cant answer for this what seems like mins at the moment it wakes up.

Is there a way to speed the boot up time?

I use a 1gb mSD card
Journal Bar
Spb Pocket Plus 3.0 running blue today theme.

Thanks in advance for any enlightening help.

Check your available storage and program memory.

Slow wake-up is definitely influenced by how much "stuff" you've got in RAM, so that would be the first thing to check.

SPB Pocket Plus (any version) is a known memory hog. My personal advice to you would be to learn to do without it.

i understand your pain...I've tryed just about every piece of weather/news/tweaking program out there..if i were you i would check out

www.SBSH.net

they have a bunch of programs and more! like pocketbreeze...pocketweather...contactbreeze...and ILauncher...that integrate into one like journal bar AND pocket plus...to get the RSS feeds like Journal bar check out PocketRSS

http://www.happyjackroad.net/pocketp.../pocketrss.asp

I also run Wisbar Advance for my taskmanager....

www.lakeridgesoftware.com

All of these run well...but to run all these and still have a smooth running pocketpc...i use Pocket Hack Master...

http://www.antontomov.com/

(sorry if my typing is all messy i'm in need of sleep)

With a bit of research...and...with all these programs running in sync...you could have everything integrated and still have a smooth running 6700

Give them all a try and let me know what you think....if you have any questions send me a pm

Ok, before I uninstalled and tried these apps, I tried something different.
I went into my Tweeks2K2.net settings and activated the Move shared Dlls to the starage card and checked the File Based Registry (WM5) boxes.
Also the slow PNP upload delay. (I am not sure if this one effects my device but what the hell.)

After soft resetting it boots right up and runs like a champ.

I will report if I have any more issues with this.

Hope this helps somone.

I dont think that is going to be the answer so I'll give you the known cause in case what you did doesnt work. There is already a 3-5 second freeze thread on here and Spb Pocket Plus 3.0 is the culprit. Not because it's a memory hog as aforementioned but there is a problem that if it has to access anything off the mini sd card that freeze was occuring. Simply by removing any icons which access the mini sd from the today screen it will alleviate this problem. Many things are locking up which have to do with the mini sd so its not even neccessarily Spb Pocket Plus 3.0.

Are you guys talking about after a soft reset or wakening the PPC up after it has been turned off with the power button?

Yes, either from the actual hardware button or a spb button to put the device in standby.

Well, dprout69's post is a welcome one.
After I did the tweeks I posted my 6700 ran like a champ, for about 3 hours.
Now it is right back to the 5 second freeze.

I will try the mSD issue with that proggy.

Thanks so much for that post, I will try to see what I can do.

Ok, on my system tab in spb pocket plus 3.0 there was a storage card icon that will tell you the space left on the card.
I took that icon off the today pug in tab and it is again booting fast again.
I hope that is it, thanks again for all the help.
Great forum.
