Need help for a button hack

Hey Guys,

I want to make the side internet explorer button for quick access to the speed dial menu but there is no way to do it in the settings-button menu.

Can anyone help me figure this out. It would really help phone functionality a bunch!

Thanks
Pete

Cmon guys this is a huge hack...we did this with our monster G1000's and in one touch your speed dial screen is up...you just choose the person from a shorter list and bingo you're dialing away. Makes for one handed dialing a snap.

Anyone?

Sounds like a good Idea, but I find pressing the talk button and holding the number just as fast (both have to press 2 buttons {one to open speed dial One to call}) only you have to have the speed dial's memorized

the only problem with pressing the talk button then the number is that you have to remember who is in each number. =)

Sometimes I can't even remember my own name, let alone who I assigned to my speed dials. Except voicemail of course.

=)

phone alarm has a feature where you can press a single button to bring up your last ten calls similar to that of the treos. that might work for you.

Thats a very good point you have, didn't even cross my mind. I guess in that situation a button remapped would be great, now that I think about it I want it to, cause then I can use more than 8 of them wo having to remeber whichone is which.

Not exactly what you want but this might help. You can map a button to Contacts, or use the soft button already provided from the Today Screen. Then, from the desktop Outlook, take your most frequently called numbers and go to "file as" and put a space before the name. This causes them to be at the top of the list when you open Contacts as the space comes before a letter alphabetically. You can then instantly see the contacts and easily scroll to them and dial them with the toggle button. There could be a few variations on this theme. HTH.

Thanks Cat that may work, i'll give it a shot. We used to be able to do this "speed dial map" on our other PPC devices (g1000 and i700) and its kinda like a favorites button on a Treo but I'll try the workaround til we can get it mapped.

Yeah it really was dumb the way they put the speed dial list in the "hidden menu" ...doh

Thanks
Pete

That is a Treo specific feature. It was one of the features they touched upon in the press conference. Palm worked with Microsoft to intergrate their familar Treo features into WM5.

I don't think this is something we will see as an update, but maybe some enterprising techie will be able to hack them off the treo and make them usable on the 6700.

I actually took my contact "favorites" and put a asterisk next to their last name in contacts. This puts them first in the contacts list. Then I mapped the side IE button to contacts and the first 20 are my favorites. Thanks for the tip, I find in two hits I have my contact dialed!
