Help before I abandon ship please...

...I've done searching and found some clues, but no solid answers to a few problems that I have with the device. I'm at my wits end and about to go back to my treo, but wanted to see if there's anything else I can do to save my EVDO capabilities.

So, at the suggestion of Hobbes is Real, I come to you all looking for help.

1. It comes on all the time when switching networks, reminders, etc. screen is unlocked, and buttons can get pushed. No fix as of now. Mortsaver blocks my bluetooth set and I can't get it to come on automatically. The switching comes greatly from being not so much on the edge of 1x Evdo, but more from going in and out of service period. Any thoughts or suggestions?
2. Pain in the neck to add a quick calendar appt (what I use for reminders)
3. Bluetooth integration with car is good (parrot ck3100), but not as good as treo without buying Voice Command from Microsoft, $40. No Contact syncing with unit...have to dial through bluetooth to VC and that doesn't always work so hot.
4. Network switching seems to be weird going from wifi to EVDO to 1X. Doesn’t always catch for some reason. Essentially, if I'm trying to do web work, realize i have borderline signal, fire up wifi, get an ip from my router, it still doesn't connect. I have to reset the phone, then it works fine.
5. No way to tell if you have caps on, num lock, etc until you start typing.
6. SMS is handled by outlook, new email for each message. Big step back from 650’s threading.
7. Picturemail doesn’t work with it, have to mail from different account now.
8. Joystick doesn’t go to all the places it should like a treo. Probably more of a comfort thing and could be overcome.

The fast internet is pretty good, but I really haven’t had a chance to use it yet as our house is on the fringe. Thus leading to complaint 1. I’m going to give the phone a workout this weekend on a trip to Baltimore. Unless it blows me away (mainly internet as that’s the only thing that is really a step forward on the device), it will be heading back next week. I do like the landscape screen though even though it has LESS pixels than a treo. Wifi is sweet, but it sucks the battery dry. Good EVDO coverage would mean wifi is a moot point to me.

Thanks for any help.

thanks for the reply.

8. I say not obviously, cause I learned in palm world, while 'rudimentary', 99 percent of problems were solvable by some genius programmer...

Why did you switch. What motivated you. If there's not a good reason, you should probably switch back.

You have to compare the plusses against the minuses. I switched because I needed a PPC device. Other than the things I got with having PocketPC, the Treo was better.

I'd say I switched cause I really wanted to give EVDO a whirl, was curious about the ppc platform (multitasking, more powerful integration with outlook etc), and don't really want to wait for the treo 700. I was planning on giving the 650 to my wife who is in dire need of a new phone and wants to go the pda route, so this is the only real upgrade option available now.

It was more of an experiment that I hoped would work out.
