I've had two 6700s: the first wouldn't connect to the Internet on EVDO; it was replaced, and the new one works fine.
Neither unit will sync with my XP box. My 6600 syncs fine, but when I connect the 6700, ActiveSync comes up, displays the "Synchronizing" message, and sits there forever without actually synchronizing. I never see the progress bar, and there's never any count of items out by "Contacts", etc.
I can install and remove software, and mount and browse the phone, with no problem. It's just syncing that doesn't work.
WM5 devices don't use the same USB protocol for syncing that older devices did. Instead, they use a weird TCP-over-USB.
Since it's TCP traffic, if you're using a software firewall like Zone Alarm, you'll need to go through a (painful, complex) prodcedure to allow ActiveSync to bypass the firewall.
HOW DO I FIX THIS??!!! I am having the same problems. I can't synch my contacts. How do i fix this???!!! is it my phone? this doesn't seem to be a huge issue with others.
is it just me or is the suggested Microsoft Solution actually saying to add an exception to the firewall status that allows ANY tcp initiated action to go to ANY tcp destination?
Specifically, there, it says to do this at the end:
Step 9
When adding a protocol, make sure the following entries are set as shown:
Protocol = TCP
Description = ActiveSync TCP
Destination = Other; Any
Source Port = Other, Any
Click on OK until you navigate back to the main screen.
So adding that in as an exception measnt that anything over TCP from any source port to any destination port should be allowed? Am I crazy or does that just sound like an a$$ bad idea?
I just want to confirm that you are using Activesync4.1. my laptop worked fine for a month and now I have the unending "Connecting" still works fine on my desktop though. I've been through every post about this and tried everything but no help yet.
