6700: The "phone" part of "Smartphone"s" weak

Most users here seem to use the "smart" part of the smartphone a lot more than me although I use it a great deal and like it a lot. I also use the "phone" part a great deal and am not overly impressed.
-- it takes 3 steps to make a call (turn on light/hit phone buttton/hit VC button)
-- if a call in progress needs a numeric prompt, need to return to keyboard to enter it (hard if driving)
--soft keyboard's unreliable, leaving VC as only viable dialer-- sometimes inappropriate.

Switched over from i500 with its vastly superior phne capabilities. Now I have to choose between a good phone and good data. Absent advice as to improve my 6700 phoning experiences, perhaps someone can suggest a good phone (pref. flip) that has both? Any in the works?

Not bashing-- just reflecting my views and experiences. Help?

Thanks...

How many button presses did your i500 take to make a call? I've never had a cell phone that took less than two (and some took many more than two).

You can program a numeric prompt into the phonebook, use a soft or hard pause character and the phone will enter the numbers for you. Again, how does any other phone get around this?

The soft keypad is not your only other alternative for dialing. You can also pull out the hard keyboard and use that.

Dan

"Smart Phone" is 2 years ago. The 6700 is a "Smart Device".

I just tell my 6700: "Call The Office" viola, my smart device calls the office. One button I press.

Hi,

I already moved the identical thread you started to the "which phone to get - ask the team forum." (you should have received a PM concerning this). Since you are asking for a recommendation on a different phone, this thread doesn't really have anything to do with the 6700 other than you are not completely satisifed with it so I am going to go ahead and close it. The previous, identical thread you started can be viewed and replied to here:

Thanks!
