Screen Alignment Issue (have to realign several times per day)
Is anyone having trouble with their screen alignment getting out of sync during the course of the day? I'm having to realign the screen 2-3 times a day.
Does your phone have the old sprint logo or the newer sprint-nextel cobrand logo? Sprint has had so many problems with the old logo-phones that they have begun "exchanging" them... I know this because I did it... Again much like russian roulette, you have to get the right PCS rep.
If you have dropped your phone, you do not need the face plate to actually crack for there to be damage. My phone dropped less than 2 feet (NO LIE!) on to the carpet... did not even leave a mark on the phone... but the screen was cracked!
If you have purchased your phone (and 99% of us here did) during November/December, you are able to return it and purchase a new one... Sprint will want to hold on to $630 until they get their phone back , BUT IT IS WORTH IT! I honestly believe that the newer phone, with the update and backlight (regardless of what others say) is nicer... Just don't do all of your typing in the closet and you will be fine! (the blue light of the keyboard strains eyes apparently)
Had one of the first phones (Old Logo - first week it was released) - had several problems with it:
- Screen Alignment
- USB Port "broken" - wouldn't always sync/charge
- Headphone Jack issue (after using Head phone and taking out of the jack - couldn't hear clicks or events on the OS nor could I hear the earpiece - essentially - you had to insert the headphone back in and out until the phone "recognized" it no longer had a headphone plugged in.
Of course - requested new phone through business rep... was sent another "Old Logo" phone - which had the annoying screen whine when holding up to your ear. Requested yet another phone (Biz Rep stated she'd order a definite "new" phone - so not sure if phone #2 was a refurb or not - didn't appear to be in the settings information) - received the "New Logo".
No problems yet with this one.
We'll see - verdict is still out on the keyboard back light.. barring what others say about it's harder to see - I think it's a little easier to see in lighted areas (i.e. sunlight / office environment) - which is the reason I think they've changed the backlight. It is a little annoying in pure darkness - but I really don't use it typically in that type of environment.
Anyway - to answer the original thread question - yes - had the issue with my old phone.. and I believe that the other post in here is possibly true that there were "problems" with the original batch (i.e. Old Logo) of phones...
My phone seems to periodically run out of alignment. Particularly with drop down menus, like sending SMS messages and the like, although I also notice it with Solitaire, where precise pointing is somewhat of a necessity

I have the same scren alignment issue, and have none of those programs installed. I also use a Mac, and have no way (that I know of) to back up my data until an Activesync replacement for Mac shows up, so replacing the unit would definitely be a last option.
Can anyone tell me what could cause this? I don't even have a screen protector yet.
Same alignment problem here too.
It only ever happens on the right side of the screen.
I have a phone with the new logo. None of the programs you just mentioned.
I do have a screen protector though. Just wondering how the screen protector could cause this, because when I realign everything is back to normal...until the next time, which is usually a day or so. It's pretty consistent how often it happens.
My gut feeling is that one or more of my programs is messing this up.
must be the screen protector for you saint.
i had to realign my screen a MILLION times on my old logoed phone. I swapped it for a new one and haven't had the problem at all!
yipee!
no more high-pitched whine either.
must be a better screen? the finish on the phone sure feels different too (a little harder/more durable).
happy with the change.
I'd have to agree - I've had the "New Logo" phone several weeks now - and have yet to have any of the same issues that I had with the previous "Old Logo" phones.
I swear also that I have better reception overall as well compared to the "Old Logo" phones.. That or Sprint's really taking an active stance on upgrading their network.
Definitely when compared to my old 6600, which I constantly had dropped calls and, at various times, no service at all, the 6700 has only had one dropped call on the drive home in a known "dead" spot (low valley)
Our phone guy just got us MS Voice Command - am playing with that now..
Only *real* complaint I have with the phone is the battery life, but that's easily worked around..
I took it to Sprint for an exchange, and they did a hard reset and said that fixed it.
I restored everything on the phone the way it was before, and got the alignment issue again, so it must be software-related. The only hacks I've installed are:
-Down button scrolls full page in IE
-Glyph cache change
I have to admit, I did a hard reset MANY times in working out my phone and it never helped the screen alignment problem....only thing that helped me was trading mine in for the new logoed phone. haven't had to realign my screen since.
I must correct myself, I took it to Sprint and all they did was hard reset both times, which fixes it for a few hours, and they won't help me any further. I'm frustrated! How can I convince them to exchange the phone?
