6700 and iGuidance GPS Map Software
I have been using iGuidance 2.1.3 with my Sprint PPC-6700. This software works good on the 6700 but I did notice a couple of problems.
Installed the program and maps on the mini-sd card. When I first launch the program from the program menu it could not find the QVGA copy of the program. This was a simple fix of renaming the qvga version of the program to the same name as the calling program. Doing this MIGHT of caused my 2nd problem, but I have yet to test.
Second problem, when I try to go into 3D mode, the appication will not run and all and exits right out after the intro screen. Needed to go into registry and change a key back to 2D. This was a good guess because it worked, but I changed it to 3D using the builtin menus so that was not the initial cause of my issue. Anyways, enjoy the program, but wanted to see if there are any others hits/tips for 6700 users.

Question
Does the iGuidance software use the built in GPS module or do you hook up an external GPS receiver ??
Have you seen this thread ??

While the 6700 has the ability to to E911 location service (all phones over the last couple of years have this), unless sprint or HTC opens up the API there is no way to access it. Along with this it might not be "true" satalite GPS, but cell tower gps. If you are out of range of the towers, then not only your phone would be down but your GPS would be down also. This would be really bad for a lot of people that would want to depend on the unit for GPS....
Keeping with the topic. I found the linke for iGuidance website and for updates to the program. It can be found here.

since the ppc 6700 is bluetooth enabled, what GPS hardware do you reccomend, it sounds like the chargable ones will work best. also, is it simply better to get a 500 garmin or TomTom gps that does one thing only?
thanks

Same Problem Here!
I just got the MyNavigator (Socket's version of iNav) and I am having the same problem with 3D mode crashing. They have found that if you switch to Night Mode (not Day or Auto) 3D mode will work.

I've never had a problem with it since they released the update supportin WM5.0. Do you have the latest version? If not, check the navcorp site for the upgrade.

If you are having problems with the 3D mode crashing your iGuidance, please contact inavcorp.com & advise them. Only a handful of users have alerted them to this issue, so it is not a priority issue to them. The more complaints, the sooner we might get a fix.

Iguidance works flawlessly for me
Hi there, Hope this helps black88mx6 and others.
I had the identical problem to you when installing onto my SD card. Do NOT rename the file. Instead, change the shortcut in the start menu/programs to point to the QVGA version instead of the regular version. I can flip between 2d and 3d without any issues.
As for getting it to work with bluetooth GPS. I have the belkin gps unit (same as fortuna clip on). It was a little patchy at first, but I found a solution. After you pair the two devices, go back into the BT settings menu. Click on COM ports and assign the appropriate COM port. For me, I knew from my old Ipaq 2200 (still the best workhorse ever!!) that my belkin was on COM 8. Since then, Iguidance flawlessly opens the BT connection to my gps unit each and every time.
Take note...the FindGPS program still doesn't work at all!!
But the actual program works perfectly this way. I also have my BT headset paired and have seemlessly used both at the same time.
This device is light years more stable than WM2003 is concerned as my 2200 used to go back to the BT browser constantly while driving.
Hope that helps.
-Josh

I got this from iNav when my PPC 6700 stop working with iGuidance 2.1.3.
Hi Rodger:
You mentioned you have reinstalled iguidance. Is it still having problem after the install?
What error message did you receive?
If no error message, the program just seem to hang, then most likely our bluetooth receiver isn't paired w/ your PPC phone properly.
The bluetooth pairing of the 2 devices running wm5 is a bit tricky. You may contact your PPC phone manufacturer directly for assistance, or we have also provided some instructions here for your convenience.
BT Pairing and GPS Setting:
0. Please make sure the GPS application is closed
1. Click on Start\Settings\Connections\Bluetooth
2. In the Mode tab, click on "Turn on Bluetooth" to enable Bluetooth functionality, if it is not already checked
3. In the Devices tab, click on "New Partnership..." to start scanning for Bluetooth devices
4. In the list of discovered Bluetooth devices, locate the Bluetooth GPS device, usually something with "..BT-GPS.."
-- If you cannot find this device, please make sure the b luetooth GPS Receiver is turned on and within 10ft of the Pocket PC or laptop , then click on Refresh
5. Select the BT GPS receiver and click on Next
6. Enter the Passkey and click on Next
-- you may need to check with the BT GPS manufacturer or their website for the Passkey. Try "0000" if you cannot find the information.
7. Next, select "Serial Port" and then click on Finish
8. In the COM Ports tab, click on "New Outgoing Port"
9. Select the identifier for the BT GPS receiver and click on Next
10. Select COM7 (default) and click on Finish; "Secure Connection" should already be checked
11. Click on OK to exit
12. Click on Start\Settings\System\GPS
13. In the Programs tab, select or make sure the GPS program port is set to "None"
-- the GPS program port is for applications which do not conform to wm5/Magneto's GPS data parse API
14. In the Hardware tab, set the "GPS hardware port" to COM7 and the Baud rate to 4800
15. In the Access tab, select "Manage GPS automatically", if the option is not already checked
16. Click on OK to exit
17. Now start the GPS application.
18. Click on View\GPS Options\COM Port and select COM7
-- Please wait a few seconds before parsed data starts coming through
Manaul BT Unpairing and GPS Setting:
0. Please make sure the GPS application is closed
1. Click on Start\Settings\Connections\Bluetooth
2. In the Mode tab, uncheck "Turn on Bluetooth" if you no longer require Bluetooth functionality
3. In the Device tab, tap and hold the identifier for the BT GPS receiver until you see a pop-up menu
4. In the pop-up menu, select "Delete" and then Yes to confirm
5. In the COM Ports tab, make sure nothing is assigned to "COM7"
6. Click on OK to exit
7. Click on Start\Settings\System\GPS
8. In the Program tab, set the GPS program port to "None"
9. In the Hardware tab, set the GPS hardware port to "None"
-- You can leave the Baud rate as is
10. In the Access tab, enable "Manage GPS automatically"
11. Click on OK to exit
12. Now start the GPS application.
Thank you.

3D Mode Issue
For those following this thread & other similar threads at other forums, as I can tell, the 3D issue seems to be specific to the PPC6700. The Windows Mobile 5.0 running on the 6700 is slightly different to the WM5 used on other PDA's and handhelds. So some Bluetooth & Navigation issues may only be experienced by PPC6700 users. And now that Verizon & Alltel are offering the PPC6700, in addition to Sprint, maybe some of these issues, which do not exist on the Axim & other handhelds, will come to light.
