Cannot Connect: Dialed #777

Anyone having issues/problems thru out the day getting onto Vision? When I attempt to connect It quickly returns 'CANNOT CONNECT' DIALED: #777 The answering modem has disconnected. Check settings and change them if needed.

To correct this I turn off phone and turn it back on. At this point im able to connect just fine. Anyone experiencing this also?

I have yet to connect to Vision. It just keeps trying to connect by dialing #777. I think it thinks I am trying to dial up with a laptop.

Yes and with the same results. Airplane mode on/off and then it's fine. When I was dealing with another issue the Tier 2 guy asked if I had any other problems and told him about that one and he was like, oh, that's weird. He said they still don't have one that they've had to test with. I take everything I hear with a grain of salt, just hoping that we might get a ROM update in January to fix some of the issues found by the "beta" (re: business customers) testers.

Yes - it's frustrating as hell... and turning airplane mode on/off doesn't work for me anymore.

Just deleted connection entry and created a new one.. Doesnt matter if I use with an ID and PW or just leave it empty it doesnt want to connect. It blinks and comes back with same 'modem has disconnected' message. Gonna have to tun phone off/on to get online.. If this doesnt get resolved soon I may jump ship again as its impossible...

Mine started doing it a little while ago. I went to the Wireless Manager and shut everything off and then re-enabled everything. All is working now. YMMV

Same here...

After talking to customer support they told me to just turn the phone off for half a minute and turn it back on....

It did work....

But after a while I get back to "no modem" bs....

I have been having the same issue. This is the second time I have had the problem. The first time I hard reset the unit and it worked. I called CC and was on the phone for almost two hours they had no clue. Well it's back now and I don't want to keep going through this is.

This comment is to help people with new phones.

I got a replacement phone and they provisioned it wrong as 2G instead of 3G - it took many calls before they provisioned it correctly. So if you just get your phone and 4 hours (should be on within about 1) later it still can't connect to the internet, they probably provisioned it wrong. The default settings don't need to be modified.

After three days with this puppy, here is what I am seeing. I will illustrate what occurs and ppl can chime in with their thoughts.

I go from place A, through place B then end up in place C (total span about 35 miles)

6700 can latch onto EVDO in A and C ... but canNOT in place B. However, in B, 6700 says "EV" in large caps, which tells me an EVDO signal is detected.

Here is the kicker - in place B, I get this same modem dial up error ppl are seeing here...and it seems to lock up the 6700's ability to grab a usable 1xRTT signal, which results in NO data usage in taht area. AND, I KNOW there is strong 1xRTT usable signal in B from past two years of Vision use there almost daily.

Once I get to C, I either have to reset the radio or it automatically latches into a workable evdo signal.

Basicallyk, I think in area B, 6700 sees EVDO, but since it is not usable, it locks phone in EVDO mode anyways.

Big BUG IMO.

Winger said it all. I have had almost the exact same luck with my own phone, except I cannot get EV in A and C as easily. I think the problem is that it keeps trying for EV and does not accept 1X as a good substitute.
Like Winger, my treo had no problem getting data in A, B, or C. I would give anything for the constant 1X I used to have, even if EV had to be shut off somehow.
I think they need to make something like the wireless manager that allows us to select EV only, 1X only, either or none. It would be simple enough and I dont think I should have to hack my phone to do it.
Is it asking too much to have this to make the phone work?

I have seen this now that I am back home and have very marginal EVDO service (and substandard 1X, too)...

When I was up in Seattle, I had very strong EVDO and I never got this error (or any other Vision error) for two weeks.

My guess is if you do the 1X/Ev dance (that is so familiar to people using an i730), that is when this problem appears.

Fortunately, this only happens to me if I leave my phone on at night at home...
