Does anyone know the best way to prepend a phone number...either from contacts, call history, or from a text field. I use this quite often to add "11" in front of someone's number to go straight to their voicemail. TIA, Colin

Looks like the new ROM update defaults to always bringing up a prepend dialog when you select a phone number from a text message or email instead of just asking to Call Yes/No.
This is one of my biggest disappointments on the 6700's and win mobile devices in general.
In northern Illinois even if you are calling within your area code, you need to dial the area code.
being as I dial most of my clients only once from my cell, I don't want them all to be added to my contacts. And since I am calling while driving a truck and looking at a piece of paper dialling on the screen. I WANT TO HAVE A PREPEND OPTION for my area code (unless I specificly dial a different one).
Most $39 phones have this option, and most Palm phones have this option.
It can't be that hard to program it (can it?).
Can anybody help me out here?
hacks, freeware, commercial, black magic rituals, anything???
(edit: I have searched and searched and searched...)
Go to Settings and then go to the Connections Tab at the bottom.
Tap the Connections icon.
Go to the Advanced tab at the bottom.
Tap "Dialing Rules".
I did not have the "Use Dialing Rules" checkbox enabled, but in order to see the options, check it. Set the radio button to "Mobile" and tap "Edit".
There's a field there for Area Code. Tap "Dialing Patterns". There is a field there for "For local calls". Maybe between those two, you can find a way to prepend the area code automatically? I tried all sorts of combinations to get it to work on my phone, but without success...hopefully you or someone else can figure it out. Sorry I couldn't provide a definitive answer, but it looks like the key *might* be in that screen.
good try, but those settings are for dial up networking only and (unfortunately) have nothing to do with regular calls - I think I have tested that to death....

My phone always dials 10 digits. We have to in our area.
I prepend many of my calls w/*67 to block my number... I just enter it in the contact's listing that way.
Pocket Informant has a way to designate an area code, and it is possible to enter the *67 there so that new numbers will have it also.
I'm pretty sure that there's a way to change the area code in the regular phone contacts also, but don't remember how. (there was in the WM2003 phones)

How did you ever come up with that difficult sollution.
Can I send a few $ to your paypal account for all the work you've helped me out with.
All right I'll stop now, anybody have any ideas on how to work this out?
to be honest with you, if i knew the answer, I would not post it. Why would someone want to help you with your attitude and blatent sarcasm. There is no need to talk to someone like that.... take your macho ego out from behind your computer and grow up.

You aren't wrong.
Sorry, I misunderstood.
No way that I've seen to add numbers to any 7-digit number without dialing them. You mean that there's a way to do this automatically on other phones?
Interesting.

yes, in fact most regular cell phones do have this option, as well my beloved, yet obsolete (in my eyes) 7135 had it too, I think most Palm phones do. Really anoyed with this missing feature as unfortunately 11 digit dialing is becoming more normal in more areas every day.

NNatic,
Truly sorry if I offended you, or anyone else for that matter. You are right.
And thanks for your helpful post by the way...

Reason: Correct spelling on my 6700's keyboard is harder...
OK, after doing much more searching, and not getting much closer, it seems (per MS website) there may be a phone setting that is not enabled that would enable "dialing rules".
These would be in the same area of settings as network time synch, and voicemail notification, etc..
Does anyone know of any registry edits to show *all* phone settings?
There are a few listed around here and on other forums (mostly the same 'hacks' posted over again all over the place.
I have tried all I've found, and while they have enabled what they say, this isn't included (so far).
What I'm looking for is specificly "dialing rules".
Yes, I know they are listed in network settings, but these do not affect voice dialing as previously noted in this thread.
Anyone have any ideas...
Anyone else wish this worked...
I can't believe I'm the only one that is annoyed to have to dial 11 digits in this forum?
