way to set 6700 so it stays in landscape mode?

On my new 6700, if you put it in landscape mode with the keyboard closed, then open the keyboard and then close it again, the unit goes back into portrait mode.

Anyone know of a way to set it so it stays in landscape mode?

You can use the "screen rotate" icon at the bottom right of the Today screen to rotate the screen any way you want.

Thanks for the suggestion.

By the way, it is a bug if the close keyboard function is "put the screen back the way you found it before the keyboard was openend" rather than the simpler brute force "always put the screen back to portrait mode when closing the keyboard." I don't think it unreasonable to expect the device to remember how the screen was before the keyboard was opened.

I've been trying to find a way to keep it permanently in Lanscape unless I change it myself. I can't find a way.

I found the registry key that changes when the screen orientation changes. It's HKLM>System>GDI>Rotation. The values of Angle and LandscapeMode change when the orientation is adjusted, but changing the values does nothing to the orientation. I guess I don't have a thorough enough understanding of registries at this point. I'm still looking for a fix for this, but thought maybe someone could shed some light on these keys.

i love it when folks try to say something smart-ass and end up being completely off base. I'm pretty sure the question is how to make the device REMEMBER which mode its supposed to return to instead of always returning it to portrait.

to possibly help answer your question, there is another thread with this same topic, i know i'm subscribed to it so you might try either searching for that thread or seeing threads i've posted to and find it that way. i don't think a resolution has been found yet, or at least it hasn't been posted to that thread yet. and yes i do agree that it should be considered a bug if there is no way to hard set the orientation. Its quite annoying to use the screen orientation icon on the today screen or go into the settings for the screen and set it that way, but it always goes back to portrait when you close the keyboard or when turning the screen back on. Its nice to have it flip landscape when you open the keyboard, but its annoying to have it go back to portrait when you close the keyboard if you've already told it not to.

I have been waiting forever for this hack. ever since I got the brando case I've wanted an option for the device to stay permanently in landscape mode. it would be ideal to just flip the screen door UP while holding the the phone horizontally and start with a wide screen. how is this not an option? can someone please help?
