Unhappy Hurricane Wilma & 6700

Behaved like a champion during the storm. I was able to email pics of the wreck before Sprint went to Roaming. Anybody else in South Florida has any signal?

Brave picture w/6700...notice how the wind is still blowing. The whole aluminum roof of the screen enclosure went flying off & landed on top of my car...

Here is my neighbor's ficus tree on top of my roof. 6700 comes in handy for insurance purposes...

I feel for you guys, I am in Tampa and we did not have much damage at all. Whenever the power did go out, the 6700 kept on ticking.

Davie actually, just south of 595 & Flamingo....very close to the eye of the Hurricane....& I was lucky. Redneck country....folks here are patroling with shotguns at night. I patrol with my 6700! Here's another picture of the side of the house...the roots of the ficus tree took the fence with it. Never grow these giant trees next to your house...

In Miami here and just getting decent reception this morning. Luckily, my office has power so I'm doing a little catch-up work and going back to the darkness

In Southwest Florida here....... Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Naples areas. We have power at my office, but none at home. Luckily, no damage found so far at either.

Lucky you....from what I understand...FEMA is only helping Collier & Monroe counties with $$$...they forgot that Wilma passed through Broward like a crazy lawnmower. Remind me not to vote for no Bush next time...

Not sure about the Fema thing, but I have seen them here in our area. We got lucky with our home and office, but others are not so lucky over here. Lots of problems in areas south of me, and some problems in areas around me. We just got lucky.

We were here during Charley last year, and just like then we sat for days without power. Not a big deal I guess, but at least it's cooler this year than when charley hit last year.

I feel for anyone that had major damage and hopefully Fema will get there soon with help.

Spotty coverage for me as well but all in all not too bad. Im sitting at work (Memorial Regional Hospital) and we're running on generators. Back home Im still dark as well. My friend does have power again, he's located off of 137ave and 112st. Time to watch the World Series!

Good thing the nights have been nice and cool.

very impressed...was watching, on my phone, the live video stream on nbc6.net coverage of the hurricane as it hit...never had a chance to watch TV DURING the storm...lost power at 7am...getting close to 48 hours later and no power...

using my phone now to tether my laptop...seems the EVDO has come back up this evening...

when will we put all our power lines underground so we can stop losing power for so long every time a hurricane hits.

can you believe FPL says 95% of customers will be restored by November 14th! that's 3 weeks...the other 5% by the 22nd! ridiculous.

i'll post some pictures i took later...

Just got power last night, seems like in Miami power is coming up much quicker than Broward or Palm Beach. I believe those dates are worse case scenarios.

Yeah, we just got power last night also in Fort Myers. Boy am I thankful, although I still left the milk and other stuff in the cooler on ice just in case. No since throwing out the fridge contents a second time, as the power also went out 3 times last night too in huge surges. Have to keep most everything unplugged just in case.

i live in south miami and so far my parent's house and my appartment don't have power...my restaurant has power, but only 110v, not 230v! (no AC, cooler, freezer, ice machine, hood). this sux!

the good news is that sprint's evdo towers are back up in my area and i have evdo signal again.

also, the hurricane's game has not been cancelled, but rather moved from 3:30PM to 12PM - i can't wait to be there. go canez.

If you have no power, how are you keeping this battery hog running? Generator? Car charger? I'm just curious.

I managed to keep my phone running for a few days using a www.boxwave.com charger setup that recharges your phone up to 4 times using 4 "AA" batteries. Well worth the investment, and only requires you to upgrade the cable to use with your next phone upgrade.
