FYI, that one didn't work for me. I can hear the sound fine but I can't get the microphone portion of the phone to capture sound. It worked fine on the 6600 but not the 6700.

FYI, I picked up a dongle style 2.5mm > 3.5mm headphone adapter at a local Cingular Wireless store. They have lots due to the recent release of their Motorloa Rokr iTunes phone. It cost $10 and sounds great with some high quality headphones!
Adapter catalog number 274 373 at radio shack is exactly what you're looking for. Got mine today and it works great. Most radio shacks should have them in stock, and it was only 3.99.

This one only has three sections on the tip - we need four for it to work properly. I use one like this (which worked fine for my Treo 600) for mono stuff like audio books and newscasts, but you are not guaranteed to get stereo, and the mic is almost guaranteed not to work.

I've only been using it to listen to streaming audio, mp3's and video on my 6700, but it works in stereo just fine. Make sure you pop it all the way in, because even after I had thought she was all the way in, it popped in one more click.

I concur. I ordered their
Apache 2.5mm Headset/3.5mm Audio Headphone Adapter
P/N: PPCPADPT16
(the one with the dual 3.5mm and 2.5mm jacks)
Works beautifully for any 3.5mm stereo phones for audio. HOWEVER, the in-line mic does NOT work. I've done some testing with other devices, headphones, other 2.5mm mic/phones. My conclusion is that this adapter is strictly for earphone and/or microphone units that have A 3.5mm plug for audio AND a 2.5mm plug for microphone. How useless is THAT? I mean, how many of those do we see out there? Lapel microphones for two-way radios have these but who uses THOSE for cell phones? Heh.
Now, the OTHER item that they say supposedly works with the 6700,
has a description that says: "This adapter converts the proprietary 4 conductor Pocket PC Phone Jack to a 3.5mm standard stereo headphone jack while enabling the internal microphone." (copy and pasted from their site).
Does "internal microphone" really mean the DEVICE'S internal mic? If so, that would be sweet. HOWEVER...it remains to be seen whether this would actually work with the 6700.
I emailed them with my questions regarding the above and may send this device I just got yesterday in exchange for the one I just mentioned, so stay tuned!
I emailed them a couple of days ago asking about this adapter http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~un...PPCPADPT18.htm to see if it would work with the 6700 (it is for the i730). I have not heard back from them as of yet. I will keep posted also.

Okay, I spoke with their tech support department earlier today and got some solid answers.
First, the part # 16 (the one with the 2.5mm and 3.5mm jacks), does work with the 67000. They did test it. Without a working microphone attached to a 2.5mm plug, the circuit for the unit's in-line mic doesn't work for the 6700. The solution: just get any cheap-o single headphone/mic unit, snip off the line going from the mic to the earphone, stick the 2.5mm plug into the corresponding jack and plug in your favourite 3.5mm phones into its corresponding jack. It's clumsy, but it works. Dunno why they designed it that way, though.
I did just that, using black electrician's tape to carefully and tightly wrap the two cords together right up to the mic then plugged them both into the corresponding jacks. Works beautifully, though looks kinda ugly. Will work fine until something more definitive comes along. At least now I can listen to music, broadcasts, etc. AND take/make calls.
Second, the part #15 DOES allow for the 6700's internal mic to be used when an earphone is plugged into the adapter. HOWEVER, I was told, you'd still have to hold the PHONE itself close to your mouth (8" or so inches?), which kind of defeats the purpose of having the earphone/mic sets. Definitely not good in a noisy car. They did test it. I think I remember him saying that 3.5mm earphones with a mic in them are hard to find, as the vast majority of wireless phones now have 2.5mm jacks.
I just purchased from radio shack a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor for my sterio headphones. When I plug them in it only provides sound in one ear. But when I plug the ear buds that came with the 6700 they provide sterio sound.
Any ideas. One thought is that the ear buds with the phone have three black rings in the male jack...while the male end of the adaptor has only 2 black rings.
If you were to search the forum (and I'm sure someone will be along shortly to remind you to do that before you ask anything) you'll find another thread on this very subject.
If you're just looking to play audio off the 6700 over your car or stereo speakers, you can go to Cingular and pick up their 3.5mm adapter for their Rokr phone. Works like a charm with the 6700.
