I just got my PPC-6700. I installed the software and am syncing.
The green dial is rotating and everything seems to be going ok, but it is taking FOREVER. I have about 2500 contacts, but at this rate it will be all night. Is there something I have done wrong?
I just got my PPC-6700 yeasterday and I got forever when sync the contact to my new phone. So I suspect that the personal firewall was stopping the ActiveSync 4.0 to send the contact to my phone.
So I quitted my firewall and the ActiveSync 4.0 sent the contact to the phone right away.
This morning, I tried to sync the canlender to my PPC-6700 with my work PC, I got the same "forever" stuff. So I quitted the firewall once more time and it went through.
So I suggest you to quit you firewall if you have this "forever" synchroization. I hope 4.1 won't need me to quit the personal firewall.
I just found out that the activesync will create a new network (169.254.2.0/24). If I make it as trusted, the ActiveSync will be able to synchronize without any problem (for my home PC).
I can't change the firewall setting in my work PC, so I still need to close the firewall in order to synchronize.

crap....that 169.254... was detected by my firewall during my activesync install . That could be causing my issue. but now turning off the firewall (zonealarm) ...still slow but making process. I am STOPPING the sync and restarting.
I am still waiting to see how long (if issue is resolved) it took the OP to finish his initial sync
BTW, what you mean by "0/24" on the IP ? is this a IP range i need to open up on my firewall (if I decide to keep it on during active sync) ?
169.254.2.0/24 == 169.254.2.0/255.255.255.0. The 24 represent the netmask (24 bits).
You can got to zonealarm: firewall (tab at left hand side) -> zones (tab at the top) then you will see all you networks detected by zonealarm. The IP address 169.254.2.0/255.255.255.0 is the network of activesync. Change this to "Trusted", you don't need to close zonealarm everytime you place the 6700 in the cradle.
Man it took over one hour to complete my initial sync. 2300+ contacts held things up. The 3000+ calendar items didn't take too long, relatively speaking.
