Would this Be Useful? - Something Like Speck SkinTight

Ok, first off, I have had my 6700 for a week. I think its great, but I am starting to see a few common nuances. When ever I am holding it in a phone like position (looking up contacts, making a call) I am constantly pushing the slide keyboard out, almost to the point where I think I am loosening it a bit. My other complaint was it was so smoothly finished that I feel like I will lose a grip on it, thus dropping it.

So, I thought wouldn't it be nice if we could enclose the 6700 in a rubber housing that allowed me to get a slip free grip on it and locked the sliding keyboard in to place so that I could use it as a phone without constantly pushing the slider loose.

My question is, would the fact that the keyboard is inaccessible be a deal breaker or are there others that would use this as a phone while on the go and only use the keyboard during prolonged data entry that would require the casing to be removed?

Anyone else interested...

This company Speck Products, makes a SkinTight product for the Treo 650. Heres a link to that product.

Here's a pic from their website:

I'm sure I can't be the only one......

What they should have done is included some kind of latch to keep the keyboard securely in the closed position until you want it to open. Having it slide partially open on its own every time you put the phone to your ear would drive me nuts.

I would be interested as I rarely use the keyboard.

I use egrips (egrips.com) on all my mobile devices. They don't have a set yet for the 6700, so I'm using a universal (not HTC universal - generic universal) set for the time being. These things totally rock and their new generation product lasts for a long time. (the first generation ones pulled apart after a couple of months) According to the web site the universals are available at Radio Shack and a few other retailers. Haven't checked this out yet.

Not affiliated with them, just love the product.

Would be cool, but not if you have to take the thing off to slide the keyboard out, as I use it more and more on this phone.

It actually would have been nice if the manufacturer of this fabulous phone would have made a "rugged" version, with the rubber moulding around the sides/edges, etc. Sure, it'd add a little bit more size but I'm all for feeling better about handling it.
