Theme Problems

Hello all,
Wondering if anyone had a chance to review the Themes on the PPC-6700 as I noticed with the MS version of Theme Maker it will make them and you can import them fine but the top and bottom bar come out in default Blue, red and gray colors..

Also noticed that if you edit the theme and change the text color it might change when applied to the PPC or it might not.. Buggy..

Same if you download them from a theme site theme site the bars will change but not to the colors on the theme.

Actually, those bars are selectable, just look more into the options the program has. The problem is it will NOT support the landscape background, and it'll crop the image if you switch to landscape....

Theme Maker isn't really that robust.

Has anyone tried SPB Extended Theme Generator?

It works on WM 2003. If you follow the guide, you can get portrait and landscape pics to work.

Just so you know, all you need is the tdywater.gif and the stwater.gif for this to work. Again, I don't know what happens with the Extended theme on WM 5.0 but if SPB Pocket Plus works, my guess is you could use this. Don't think it will help with the colors though.

In the theme program yes you can change the colors but when it is loaded on the PPC it fails to read the color change and in-turn displays only three colors: Blue, Red or gray on the bars.

There is a problem with the Top and Bottom bar of the PPC-6700. I.E on hte PPC-6600 the themes that I have created come out with the correct color.

I have tried VGA and SP Pocket Plus themes and none seem to change the bars correctly.

Well that's what happens when you adopt the first device with a major OS update on it. It will take time for developers to update their applications for WM5. I would not expect existing themes to be compatible because of the changes MS made to the bottom bar.

Things will get much better in the coming months as WM5 devices start to proliferate in the market. In the meantime, you've got to accept the tradeoffs of being first.

I'm new to theme makers - I've tried the MS thing but when I go to export it to my device it fails. It says the connected device is not Pocket PC 2002. Theme was generated unable to download skin.

Thanks
