Old school, white LED's, and proud of it! How 'bout a pic of the new logo case? And a screenshot of the splash screen (seen after soft reset) if it has the new logo?

TIA,
Todd/Indy

Since only the ExtROM has been reported to be of any difference (and extremely minor, at that) vs a newer ROM version which would potentially carry a bit more importance, what difference does it make if a unit has the new or old logo silkscreened? The .003 update to the ExtROM is most likely just the new logo's appearance in the boot up.

It's because the new logo version also has blue leds for the keyboard backlight, and some people seem to want that. I'm quite pleased with the white LEDs on mine.

Did a comparison of the White vs. Blue LEDs - White wins!!!

While the Blue looks kinda cool, it doesn't work as well. The red keys don't light up any more so you can use things like NUMBERS!

Real great upgrade!!! Glad I got mine early!

[Plus, for all you "white" owners, just remember that since your white backlit keyboard is now considered "limited edition", you are now part of the "I wanted my 6700 early and I am willing to open a business account to get one" club. (ya I know about the pre-consumer versions...I have one too..supernerd) We are now considered old skool..legends..fellas

LOL!! That's hilarious! Makes reading all the forums, pining for one of these devices, finally getting one all the more worth the while!!

I guess I'll keep my 'relic' with the white light!

Just an FYI, white LEDs cost more than blue ones do.

An extra $0.00145 per unit in Sprint's pocket.

Sprint PPC-6700 now branded with new logo

I remember somebody asking about this. The first PPC-6700 we received about 3 weeks ago had the old sprint logo but the one that just showed up yesterday has their new logo with a new white/yellow box. The device itself is exactly the same in all respects.

FYI

Hello and welcome to pdaphonehome.com, I see you are new here. In general, it is a good idea to do a search before starting a new thread as often times, your question will have already been extensively discussed (especially newbie questions). By doing a search first, you not only get your answer quicker, but you help to keep redundant threads to a minimum.

However, since you are new here, I will do the search for you this one time. By searching for "sprint logo," I have located this current thread and merged it with the one you created. Please review this thread FIRST and then if you have further questions, post the applicable ones in this thread.

I hope you find this information useful, please always remeber to search first before posting, and once again, welcome to pdaphonehome.com.

ROM for phone with new logo?

Has anyone dumped the ROM for the 6700 with the new logo? Yeah I'm a dork, but I'd like to put this on my red Sprint 6700 (I've removed the logos off of the casing).

i think the new devices changed the glyphecache setting in the registry. one user reported their new 6700 have the "16384" settings instead of the default "8192" value. So the devices will not have as much lag when changing views. i imagine this will be included in the next update regardless.

I am fine with my white ones too.... but I wonder if the blue is easier to see in the half dark light where the white is almost impossible......

Not to split hairs, but as far as the blue vs white debate, blue is almost the worst possible color you could pick for lighting stuff you have to read in the dark.

Blue has a very very short wavelength compared to red (or in other words, a much higher frequency) and thus suffers from greater diffusion in air.

What this means is that stuff lit with blue light at night will appear to be blurry.

cool. thanks for that response. I just know that my keys are hard to see when it is dusk out or in a room that is dimly lit..... but at full black it is fine.
I hope that the blue would be better.....

Well, its entirely likely that the blue LEDs have more overall intensity.

I just think the diffusion from blue would make it a bit harder to read in very dark situations.

Except that if you are in the dark (where the backlight is meant to really help see) you can't see any of the red "alt" characters. Good luck memorizing what is where.

I had a older 6700 with the white lights and now have the new one and I actually like the blue lights better. like mentioned the secondary butons do no light up but overall for me... blue all the way. and I can verify the memory settings are changed. I tried that hack and it was already set. I have no lag whatsoever while changing screens.

I just had my 6700 replaced today at a sprint store because I had no external speaker sound, and the replacement phone I have is all the same as above as far as ROM and everything else mentioned aboved. the only thing that is different is the following, I now have the new sprint logo, and the keyboard light is blue instead of white, which makes it much easier to see at night. it still has no option to extend the keyboard light though....

I've seen a hack somewhere here for extending the keyboard light.
