Has anyone else experienced a persistant high-pitched noise from this phone's ear speaker? I am not using the phone and I just lift it near my ear and I hear this noise. It's quite high and rather annoying. When the screen goes to sleep, the noise stops, but if I wake it up, there it is again. The phone radio remains on when it goes to sleep and no noise, just when I wake up the phone it starts in again. I turned off all radios and it still persists. Could it be battery related? Do I have a defective model?

my phone is due in tomorrow so I can't really comment on whether it's normal for this phone but I know some screens (indiglo comes to mind specifically) have a very high pitched whine from however the glow is created. A lot of people can't hear it but I can hear it from 20 feet away (older CRT TVs make my jaw feel like I've been grinding my teeth for hours). I sure hope this isn't the case with this phone.

I would say you have a bad unit.

I used to get a high pitched noise on my G1000 sometimes. It was due to my phone interfering with my wireless (WiFi) access point.
