Does anyone else sometimes get spinning "clock" in the Messaging app for no reason? I don't have any sort of auto-fetch turned on and I'll just be sitting there reading an email and all of a sudden the spinning clock will pop up on the screen and will seemingly go on and on forever. I can open up new emails, I can change to other apps (and the spinning clock won't be visible on the other apps), but if I switch back to the Messaging app, the spinning clock will still be there spinning. I have to kill the Messaging app and start it again to get rid of it when this happens.
Re: Spinning clock in Messaging app for now reason
If there's one reason why mine may get returned it'll be due to this unit's memory management. Your problem is a lack of dll memory due to your use of multiple programs running. Remember that although you tap the 'X' (attempting to close the app), the app is merely minimized and running in the background. Adjust your memory allocation toward 'Programs' as much as you can and this may help eliminate the spinning wheel. Hope this helps.

I think that's true. But br549 is right, its a resource issue. If you have a bunch of running programs, some may not load even though you have free ram and WM is supposed to take care of that anyway. (Search for Voice Command and SPB Pocket Plus) Which brings me to - do you have any today plugins, and/or voice command running? If you do it may be causing your problem.
My bad. You're right. I'm juggling 2 WM2k3 PPC phones plus the 6700 and spending adequate time with the 6700 is becoming a challenge. This doesn't rule out a future hack, which may become a real necessity with the 6700.

I am getting that same problem, but only in my PCS mail account. If I move over to one of the other accounts I have set up, it dissapears. I thought it had something to do with connectivity with the mail account.
br549, when I first got my 6700 I installed Minimo and Opera, neither of which worked right in WM5. I later uninstalled them (though my device gave an error when I tried to do that and I had to delete some files manually - I probably still have stray files - ugh). Yesterday I was getting the problem I described and I don't believe that I had any non-WM5 apps running in the background. I think the only non-standard app I had installed was TCPMP. Not sure if that might have been running in the background (if it was it wasn't doing anything). FWIW, I didn't get the problem today, but I still get the problem of the Messaging app breaking the Vision/Ev-DO connection after every fetch.
In digging into this further, I've found that the WM5 registry is supposed to have solved the issue of the 'smart minimize' issue by genuinely closing the app once the *X* has been tapped, thereby freeing memory and killing the app. This will only apply to those apps that are certified by their developers as being WM5 compliant, however.
Unrelated, but your registry is probably a bit fouled with remaining settings from the internet browsers you had previously installed/uninstalled. If you have Resco Explorer 2005, you should be able to locate and safely remove any remaining files and/or unnecessary keys.
If you've not spent an enormous amount of time so far adding data files/skins/plug-ins etc, a hard reset will restore you back to ground zero. I would suggest that if you hard reset, that you install apps one at a time, use the unit for a few hours and take note of any memory effect. Then move on to the next app and repeat until you can locate the culprit that's hogging resources. TCPMP may have been an issue if you had allowed it to run files for an extended period of time, closed (minimized) the app, and moved on to other work. Memory could've been lacking under that one episode, but unless you're using it on a regular daily basis, it may not be at fault. Not familiar enough with that prog to speculate any further.
*Side note - Any apps installed to an sd card? If so, post back with capacity and mfr.*
I'll have to take some time and review my unit a bit further about this by adding apps and experimenting with the ability to actually close apps via the *X* and measure its effect on available memory.

In order to get rid of the stray files and registry settings, I'll probably just do a hard reset and start over. I haven't installed much else and won't mind re-installing those few apps.
