Technical-FileServer (home) + @work setup
I have a setup which needs a little know-how.
Basically, I wish to keep two copies of my PPC6700 data - one at work pc, one at home pc. I sync my handheld when at work and do the same when at home so I can work off computers during the day at each location.
option 1) At home: I have a file server where I have three computers assess...the entire setup is a peer-to-peer network (no domain, no active directory, nothing fancy). I wish to keep all of my data centrally located on the file server so I can access my data from any PC
option 2) At work, I wish to keep my all of my data separate from my work's Outlook data, which DOES reside on a Enterprise-scaled network with all the bells-and-whistles. There, there is a domain, I believe.
I need some advice as to how I can setup options 2) and 3). An example (which could be wrong, only using to illustrate) of what I am looking for in terms of feedback, let's take part 2): Is it as simple as setting up ONE .pst file on the file server and point each workstation's Outlook to that .pst file?
I am familiar w/ networking, but very basics. So, keep it simple, folks!!!
Background: I have been using Palm for over 10 years. Palm has a distinct set of data files that for option 1), I can keep on my file server and have all workstations running Palm Desktop application point to the file server for data. At work (option 3) ), Palm data is nicely separate from Outlook data.
But the PPC world seems more complicated due to the use of Outlook, which I am a relative novice at.
