automatic activesync or something else keeps turning it on?
i have tried everything i can think of to figure this out but i'm making this thread hoping someone can tell me the answer...
i recall some type of setting somewhere where it allowed me to set the frequency of activesync updates while connected or something...i can't find it!
when connected, my 6700 turns on like every 5 minutes and syncs which is very annoying when i'm trying to charge it and want the screen to stay off...anyone know where to change this setting i am compeltely out of ideas.
thanks - i'm sure it's something simple and stupid.

i cannot find any settings like that under my outlook or hotmail account - i toggled to them from my text messages etc...the settings are all the same-
i see the schedule option in activesync but it's greyed out - what makes it available for editing?
thank you, i really appreciate it.

For me, on the options of my pop3 email account, the 4th page has an options button, click on that and on the 1st page is a check messages every XX setting.
lotaguts - for activesync, are you syncing over the internet? i am not, syncing via usb, and have the schedule disabled.
can you tell me in detail how you get to those settings? the only pop3 i know of is "messaging" and the outlook account which i don't even have set up...is there another pop3 settings area i don't know about or lost?
thanks,
-jeff

My 6700 is completely untethered - BT, WiFi off, sync cable not attached - and I'm noticing that every 5-10 minutes or so Activesync starts running (I check by looking at the Running Programs tab).
I don't have any auto-sync schedules set either. Anyone know what else could be causing it to run automagically?

You said,"i recall some type of setting somewhere where it allowed me to set the frequency of activesync updates while connected or something...i can't find it!

Sounds like a different situation to me. I'm relatively new at this but from reading the Help files it seems like scheduling is an option only if you are not cabled to a computer. If you are connected then it stays in sync by re-synching every 5 minutes or so. A solution for your problem may be to leave the power cable connected to your cradle but disconnect the USB from the cradle to the PC until you want to sync.
well first off i tried following what the help file says by keeping the device unattached, on wifi only but the schedule option did not become enabled so i dunno how to get scheduling on again...
as far as not plugging in the usb, i only have 1 power cord and i keep it by my bed to charge at night - oh and i have one for the car -
when i am at my computer or with my laptop and i want to charge it, it has to be plugged in with usb and therefore the syncing issue is very annoying - should be easy to turn it off, but i can't figure it out!
thanks though,

I was assuming you had your charger with you. If you want to charge it with just USB and not have it wake up to sync, try clicking on ActiveSync on the PPC, Menu, Connections and then uncheck synchronize when cradled.
On both desktop and on my PPC, whether in the cradle or not, I cannot get to "schedule". It remains greyed out all of the time. The repetitive and frequent syncing drives me nuts. However, I like the auto sync feature when I change something in Outlook.
I just figured something out. It appears that the only way you can get to the schedule is by setting up an Exchange Server. So unless you run under Exchange Server, you apparantly cannot use the schedule. Darn!!!!!!
kill the active sync process
get an app that toggles active sync off and on
right click active sync | connection settings | un-check allow usb connections
