Didn't find it during my 6600 test a couple months ago... it has been discontinued by the devleoper--they have moved to alternate technology

Along the same lines, anyone have a Beta for Citrix for WM5? I installed the ARM install for 2003SE and I never could get the client to come up to add the server information.

I just got this from anthaVPN when I asked about a WM5 version.

"We are working to release the WM5 version as soon as possible, but I cannot give you a timeframe, probably in a couple of months."

Apparently, anthaVPN is the software that is currently supporting the Cisco devices, amonth other things. It appears that it evolved from MovianVPN, which Cisco lists on their website as the client for the Pocket PC OS.

Any New News?

Does anyone have any new information about when anthaVPN will be released for WM5? Now that I have mNotes, a vpn client is the final piece to connect to work from anywhere.

I was able to use VPN through a Cisco 3005 concentrator but I had to use PPTP (not IPSEC) internal authentication (created a user that was part of a group and used that user and password for the phone) I also had to setup encryption for that group to be PPTP and 128 bit (not both 40 and 128 bit) and I think that was it

Thanks John, but that won't work for me. I don't have access to our vpn concentrator.
Are there any other vpn clients available that will run on WM5?

I don't know much about using VPN on PPCs. I would love to use VPN and Remote Desktop to access my work PC in the same manner I am able to from my home PC. I started digging around and found this recent Press Release from Bluefire Sucurity:

http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/Pres...3WM5.0CTDP.htm

I spke to my company's IT guy and was told that remote access via PPCs is really only useful for system administrators and that I wouldn't have the same experience as I have on my laptop. Anyone know if this is an honest appraisal?

OJM that's true, while yes you can get things done it's not really the best thing if you need a bigger picture. For admin things it can be very handy.

The bluefire client appears to be the first one that will run on WM5- but where can you download a trial version or even buy it? The trial version on their front page is only for WM 2003 users.

Coming Soon...

I downloaded the one on the front page because the press release mentions both WM5 and version 2.0. When you attempt to install you get a dialog stating that it is not compatible with the device. I did get a reply from the sales team at Bluefire (on a Saturday). Sounds like more of the same...

Quote:
This version doesn't have support yet for WM5. We will be coming out soon with the version for WM5. This version supports WM2003.

Sorry for the confusion,

Kevin Coleman
...always coming soon but never here yet.

I've been waiting for a workable WM 5.0 VPN client too.

I was able to get the Antha VPN client to connect and establish, but the client doesn't detect traffic and auto disconnects after about 30 seconds. I know it's working because i get authenticated with the network, but the client doesn't seem to change it's default route over to the VPN. When i try to connect to anything, the PPC tries to connect via EV-DO, so i think i need a program that lets me change the routing table manually.

Does anybody know of any software which will let me manually change the routing table or to view the routing table on a WM5.0 device?

I am evaluating a new WM5 version on Bluefire VPN Client. Working very well. Secure uses IPSEC and group authentication. Small Footprint. MUST be installed on DEVICE. Soon to be available for purchase. I think for ~$80. Works with Sprint CDMA with enough speed for VNC remote access control on my work XP computer. Works with my Linksys Wireless router also. Cisco 3005 had to have NAT-T enabled to handle the the NAT we use on our routers at work. Search for Bluefire. They currently have 2003SE Version.

Now available for $79 and trial available for WM5.
http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/orders/
Have it working on Cisco 3005 and only required me to make sure the manual setting on PPC matched settings on Cisco 3005 router. Actually VPN into work and run VNC remote desktop software when running on the Sprint CDMA connection and the speed is functional.

If your using the trial version of anthaVPN it disconnects after a minute or two, I purchased their latest version 5.8.2 and have found two problems, One- The outgoing SPI is not being setup when I setup a tunnel over WiFi, so you can not ping or access anything on the gateway, this was verified by doing a trace route on the device, nothing even gets to the first hop and looking at the policies within the client. Second I cannot connect using the same policies as WiFi over EV-D0, I've sent antha mail to see what they have to say. I also tried BlueFire VPN which works great as long as your IKE policies don't use DES and you do not use secureID to login to your tunnel endpoint. So for me at present I have no VPN solution. I do like the Bluefire client providing they can add the features I need.

As an FYI, according to BlueFire Tech Support, their client only supports Cisco and Nortel VPN endpoints, they say they are working on supporting other endpoints, but did not give a timeframe.
