The GPS Naviagtion works great for about 15 minutes, then the software freezes and loses all settings. It doesn't lock up the XV6700 though. The next time you launch the Navigon, it goes through the getting started wizard and you have to go through the guide and re-register again.
InClose Mobile Express Edition (from InSoftware House) is a great free Task Manager application, but it would cause my 6700 to freeze when trying to use Pictures & Videos. I also saw general instability as well as overall speed deterioration.
The Prioritized Task List in that integrates with Plan Plus for doesn't work in the WM2005 environment. Franklin-Covey's tech support says that they are aware of the problem.
I just tried CoPilot 6 which has an install option for WM 5. But, even after applying the 2 patches on the ALK website, when downloading a selected map area to the xv6700 an "Access Violation" always occurs ... so I could never get a map downloaded to the device.
Also, when selecting a map area to download, CP6 would always say that only 79MB was available but I have over 1800MB free on the device's Storage Card.
It is a known fact on certain sites, that ALK sux hugly in map transfers and updates as is.
I am not going to deter you from returning it, i own two versions and i hate it still.
HWEVER
just so you can try it, transfer the maps to a CARD READER that holds your storage card, you cannot do it through the PDA itself....
Two friends and I have Co-Pilot Live 6 working on three different Sprint PPC-6700. My two friends use it frequently. I have not used it for a couple of weeks as I just purchased a new Hybrid car with a built in GPS system. I need to save gass. It would assume it is a third party software package that is interfearing with the system. Also, I only tested it with AKU 1.03. I have not tested it since the AKU 2.06 update for the ROM. But my friends have been using it with the new AKU 2.06 without any problems.
I can definately concur that CoPilot is problematic on WM5. I have been using Copilot (5 and recently 6) on my Ipaq running Pockket PC 2003. I love it, works great. However, I've been trying to get it installed on my new XV6700 tonight and it's nothing but problems. I had the same storage card issues mentioned above (2gb card showing up as 79mb). I'm using my card reader to download right now...we'll see what happens.
The other issue is that Copilot is installing itself into "Storage" memory. Shouldn't it be installing to "Program" memory? The problem here is that the .cab file uses up 15mb of your storage memory and then tries to install itself into the same storage memory...so you run out and it won't install. I finally got around that by putting the .cab file on my storage card and then installing, but it still installs it to "Storage" memory???!!!! I'm calling them tomorrow to discuss all this. I love the program, but for what they charge the @#$%% thing should work!!!
OK, I had it backwards. "Storage" is the "ROM" for apps. "Program" is the "RAM" for running apps. I sure ran out of storage fast...is anyone running CoPilot off of the Storage Card?
Microsofts own High Encryption Pack seems to make my device unable to activesync after install. Also noticed the same problem with the disable menu animation registry hack.
I use co-pilot without problems with my Verizon version of the 6700. I installed the program to the storage card. THe only issue I have is the download wizard can not go directly to the storage card. I download to my laptop and transfer the files using active sync without issue.
I love this program, however I (and a number of other people) noticed that it does not sync appointment notes to a WM5 PPC. It worked fine on my WM2003SE PPC6600. Others have reported that it didn't sync Outlook Notes, email and various other things. Seems to be even worse with Activesync 4.2.
Hopefully when the official retail release comes out they'll have this issue fixed.

Actually, a new build has just been released for Sprite 5.1 with a fix for this issue. I had to join the Sprite forum to find out how to get it from the Sprite website, which was not cooperating with me. It should be available from the commercial online ppc software sites by the end of this week.
I was unable to register on the Sprite forum - twice it went into debug mode.
I followed the link, input my email address and registration code and go to a screen showing software available for download, including an upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1, but nothing about a new build. I did not get an email from Sprite.
I logged onto my PocketGear account ad the latest updaate they show is as of 6/16/2006 which pre-dates the fix.
I still haven't heard from them either! That almost qualifies them as a Software Company That Doesn't Work.
They did intend to have the new build at PocketGear and Handango by the end of this week... And if they hadn't saved my butt when I upgraded my rom, I'd be all over SPB by now.
BTW, the Sprite forum has a serious bug. Something else about Sprite that doesn't work. But if you log on with the name and password you submitted, you'll see that you are indeed in it -- although you'd never know if you didn't try that!
