I put this together for a thread on another forum, and once I'd done it thought it might be helpful for some of the new people here.

This is what I'm running on my Sprint PPC6700. All of these programs play nicely together and my system is (finally!) extremely stable. I actually own quite a few other programs, but they either took up space I wasn't willing to give them, or they made the system unstable. So out they went! (You may notice Voice Command is now gone.) I'd be happy to give more detail if anyone wants it.

Thanks for the synopsis -- great resource.

I don't think I've seen any atomic clock synch Downloads in this thread. I'm fanatical about setting my many mechanical automatic watches to the precise time and would love to do so without booting up my computer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

…Allows remote access with scrolling screen for Work Computer. Love the scolling Screen!

I have a XM radio subscription in my car so I have access to the FREE
MiniXM service and also the XstreanXM Mobile service. Both Work well.

All of the above installed in the exact order above to the specific location noted. All appear to be working very well. Really can not complain about speed. No major bugs. Right now I have 22 MB of Storage and 22 MB of Program memory available. The 1 GB miniSD has 354MB Used and 614 MB free memory.

I charge on USB at Work about 1-2 Hour at VARIOUS times of the day. I charge OVERNIGHT at home and typically can run a full day (barely). Only complaint is with frequent E-Mail Activesync the battery life requires daily charging. NOT much of a talker luckily.

10 PAGE per day, 200 E-Mail per day, 2 Hour PDA use per day, 15 Minutes Phone time per day. Functional PDA with phone use as second priority. I do not do enough Phone Use to require Bluetooth or Headset. WiFi is occasional but IMPORTANT when I need the Speed for Web Browsing. My area does NOT have EV-DO access. But I find the 1x speed of the CELL is acceptable for E-Mail, Paging, Remote Access to my Work Computer.

Very happy. Took some effort but I now have a 6oz Personal Assistant!
Do you have any problems with lock up, with that many programs running on the storage card?

I've got more than that on my storage card and no lockups at all.
I'll post a list when I get a chance in the next few days...
I'll just edit this post.

I'd like to hear why no Voice Commander. I recently resurrected my ppc6700 mainly for the pda capabilities, while putting up with the so-so phone. I am slowly adding apps and VC was a big help before.

Thanks

If that was a question for me, I now have VC 1.6 on my 6700 and it's all good. I think the problems in 1.5 have been fixed for the most part. - sheureka

Well,

my list is not that big:

skype - no comment
noviiremote deluxe (www.novii.tv/pocketpc/deluxe) - a superb remote control software, saved me 200 bucks as I finally didn't have to purchase the Logitech Harmony
wawa (wake&watch) alarm clock (http://pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=24279) - great, novel, funny and reliable to use alarm clock software. It's also the only one utility to wake up my home theater

Now who would recommend me a good organizer for project-dependable people?

MMS Picture Mail that works with the PPC 6700

Manual Method
Regedit Program
1. Download a Registry edit program. I use PHM Regedit which can be found HERE! PPC Freewarez

2. Install the regedit cab file by either downloading directly to the ppc and running it or downloading onto your desktop and then syncing the file over from there and running it.

3. I always backup my registry before and after regedits, that way I have a backup file to restore from. I also keep a copy on my ppc and a copy on my desktop of all backups I have done, also make sure u number them and remember what each does or create a hack list to refer to which registry backup does what. You can backup your registry by going to start/programs/PHM Regedit/ now at the bottom there is a bar, go to tools/backup and then name and pick where you want to store the backup file.

Now to the MMS Hack
1. Download HERE! http://www.ppcgeeks.com/files/Signed...ZW_26Sep05.zip

2. After u download the file either directly to ppc or syncing the zip file over to your ppc, unzip it on ur ppc and install the cab file, then soft reset.

3. Use ur regedit program and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI
Click to open EnableServerEdit and changed the key from 0 to 1. Soft reset.

4. Go to your mail box. It should show you that you are currently in the mms folder. Select menu, then select MMS Configuration. Select the Severs tab and make a new server connection by entering the following:

Server name: Sprint
Gateway: leave blank
Port number: 80
Server address: http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms
Connect via: Select sprint
Sending size limitation: 350kb
WAP: Select WAP 2.0

Select ok and then set sprint as your default and then delete the Verizon one.
There you have it! Go to your pics or movies and select one. Select menu, select send, then select MMS. You can now send your picture/video mail with ease.

Microsoft Money Mobile is free from Microsoft and works great.

Google Maps has saved my hide numerous times.

Opera Mini works great.

The NEW version of Skype is pretty sweet.

For a free NBS atomic clock synchronization program, I use SynchroTime. It gets the job done.

I use imov Messenger for IM, as it is also free. It also tells others your GPS position if you choose to use that feature, and your hardware supports it.

I have a need for a Russian keyboard, so I use QKeys 7. Just don't select it as your default keyboard on a PPC-6700; if you do, your next soft reset will lead to a hard reset, as your 6700 will lock up during the reset process. Other than that, it works well.

I've had to hard reset more than once, making the purchase of SPB Backup a high priority, as WM5 does not include a backup program.

E-Sword has more features, but BibleReader works well, also. Sadly, OliveTree now charges a fee for the KJV (they didn't used to).

I use BatteryPack Pro, but some of the PowerTime time zones were incorrect, so I have not yet upgraded to V3. Hope they fix the bugs soon. JournalBar seemed to make things become quite sluggish, so I removed it. Maybe I'm trying to do too much on the device at one time...

MyMobile lets me control the Pocket PC from the desktop when linked to it via ActiveSync.

NoteM allows one to record voice messages as MP3 files, saving lots of space. A variety of compression ratios can be selected.

There is a LOT of good free programs that have been released over the years for the Pocket PC. I am considering putting some of the ones that are no longer available anywhere else on a Web site.
