Just got my 6700 today and it is that much better and smoother than the 6600. however... my activesync won't pair with the device. i followed sprints instuction book as they say but the hardware did not install properly...
just wonderin' if anyone else has had this issue (or not)...
it makes me so happy to know there is a whole world out there just as excited as (or more than!) me when the newest hottest toy is out. and to think this whole time i thought i was just a freak!
thanks guys for all of you contributions - you all seriously rock!!
I had AS 3.8 running for my 6600. When my 6700 arrived this morning I used the included CD to upgrade AS 3.8 to 4.0. The 6700 would not sync. I uninstalled A
S and installed 4.0 from scratch and its been fine since.
phone comes with AS 4.0 4343. I uninstalled 3.7 then inserted the cd blah blah blah...
i am installing now for the 3rd time but it is stuck on "connecting" again. good to know i'm not the only one whose had this, i will uninstall, maybe system restore and try to get it to go. this time it did say hardware installed properly...
do you think i need to clear out aall previously installed ppc programs on my pc?
I have/had informant 2005, phonealarm, spb pocket plus and weather, and many games... I'll go fresh and see what happens.
I did encounter a similar problem with my 6600 a long time ago - I don't recall how I solved it but I'm sure I made sure to remove profiles, remove all versions of AS, delete the AS directory, reboot the PC, remove the phone from the cradle before it boots up. Install AS, cradle the unit and go from there (might have the cradling in the wrong order).
I had the same problem until I looked at the device manager and saw that the ppc6700 was indeed recognized and had an error message. All I did was had windows install the device automatically through the device manager and everything ran fine after that.
DUH!!! Trend Micro firewall... thanks guys - it's woiking now. I'm so excited!!!! Now I will let myself eat and go to Fry's for a card!!
Quick first impressions (2 hours... yes I'm changing my own subject) -
It's plastic!!! - Leaving the 6600 and the 6700 next to each other the 6600 "face" got cold while the 6700 stayed warm - 6700 is all plastic. it feels lighter and a little chincier than the 6600.
Everything is faster - opening programs/settings, the 6600 used to stall especially after more software was on there... although i haven't installed anything yet - I am fairly certain it will react faster and more smoothly.
The keypad mouse thing is GREAT! I have big hands and big fingers and this is by far the best joypad thingee ever! Haven't played any games yet but I am sure it will be 5x the fun now.
Form factor is just plain smooth, including the keyboard and of course the cam is a huge improvement. makes the 6600 look a little like something from star trek. yes the screen is smaller but it feels like a phone when you use it - waffle b gone. haven't checked but i can put picks of the 6600/6700 side by side if anyone wants.
Reception is better, no echoing so far - had that complaint on my 6601 and 6600.
USB is heaven sent, can't tell you how many of the other interfaces i busted.
Run, jump, go (warranty exchange )and get yourself one and be the coolest kid on the block again
I noticed that my win 2k pro is not recognizing my 6700 the same way it recognized the 6600. It is not seeing it as a pocket pc device therefore just sits at the "connecting" screen on activesync.
I ended up reinstalling Outlook 2002 from the CD then deleted my partnership (first detach the device), then reattached the device and got everything synchronized.

I cant get my 6700 to sync, It hang us at the connecting screen on active sync, the 6700 does not load activesync. Ive installed and reinstalled multiple times, tried an earlier version on another PC and installed Activesync 4.0 on another PC and the same thing happens. I've reset my 6700, nothing. I think there is something wrong with this phone, and certainly Activesync 4.0.
When syncing Outlook it seems my data eats up all of the storage memory; program memory seems fine.
a) Can program memory be re-allocated to storage
b) On sync, can data from Outlook Calendar be restricted by date, meaning I have data going back 10 years but I need to sync only current and future data. Any way to do that
Thanks
NB I already ordered an sdmini card but I juts want to see if there are native solutions. Never had this problem with my Treos
Foyle201 - make sure you have reset the PPC and disconnected it before you try AS again. If not try resetting the PC - not guaranteed but it has taken care of it just about everytime I've seen this issue. Make sure the PPC is not connected if you reboot the PC.
Avocat - you can go into options when the PPC is connected, then click on calendar and you can specify dates. I don't know the answer to your first question yet - I'm guessing so since I can't fit much on my 6700 either - I should have my card by Friday.
I am having issues with connecting too. I have read everything on this thread and done it about 3 times. Still, activesync shows connecting but it never connects. I have had about 4 different pocketpcs but never had this problem before. The 6700 is great, good size, screen is small but it works. Now if I could just get it to sync.
2. Uninstall activesync using the add/remove programs applet in Control Panel on your PC.
3. Restart your PC
4. Disable any firewall software you may have running.
5. Install AS 4.0 off of the CD.
6. At the device detection stage, plug your PPC in using its supplied cable DIRECT to a USB port on your computer's chassis... do not use a USB hub or switch.

Any suggestions?
thanks!
