I don't think I'll ever use the WIFI on the device for much other than looking for decent signal for a laptop. I was wondering if anyone has seen any nifty PocketPC wifi apps of this kind?
PS if anyone has more specifics on the WIFI on the 6700 I would appreciate the technical details including using WPA etc.
strange website - I looked for 2 minutes and didn't see the page which showed what the product looks like (screen shots) - dosn't mean it isn't there - just didn't see it.
ya ... the site is light on details ... I use NetStumbler on my laptop all the time ... but I've never had a Windows Mobile device to try out MiniStumbler ...
assuming they're similar, it'll give you names (if they're broadcasting SSIDs) and things like signal strength. i also get information about whether it's encrypted or not (among other things, but those are the things you'll probably use).
Have you tried wififofum? I've not tried it, but I know it gets stellar reviews and is still being actively developed... so even if WM5 is not supported yet (or the 802.11 chipset on the 6700) if you ask in the fourms there the developer may add it.
Has anyone been able to get a survey program to work such as Mini-stumbler, Wifi graph, etc... on the PPC-6700? I've tried 3 programs and mini-stumbler runs but doesn't show any access points.
I used to use Mini-Stumbler on my old HP Jornada 568 with its CF Wi-Fi card. Not a bad little app.
At first I thought of using something like it on the 6700 but so far I'm pretty impressed with its ability to sniff out and notify me right away local 802.11 networks in the vicinity, providing the option to connect. I've only used the Wi-Fi here with my home wireless network Haven't yet had the the need for it out and about since the EV-DO has been working beautifully.
Originally posted by sledgep OK, what is the secret. I loaded WiFiFoFum on my 6700 and nothing at all comes up. I have enabled my wifi but do not see anything.
You have to execute the Wififofum program. It doesn't just start running because you've turned on wifi. Turn on your wifi and then go to Start -> Programs -> wififofum.
