best bluetooth headset

I searched this forum and there was an overwhelming amount of posts/threads about this subject, usually buried in long unrelated threads. What's the better Bluetooth sets out there and does the PPC-6700 need anything special or have any options that require something different to take full advantaged it?

Since the 6700 is BT 1.2, you would want a BT headset that is 1.2 or 2.0 to take advantage of the 1.2. If you get a 1.1 headset, you will only get 1.1 between the two. Likewise even if your headset is 2.0 it will be only working at 1.2 w/ the 6700. I may not have the terms right but you get the idea.

As for the best headset, others would know better than I.

Thanks. Will an upgrade to 2.0 on the 6700 be likely?

Curious- I'm not an expert by any means but I don't think that is possible. From what I'm told it wasn't possible to go from 1.1 to 1.2 on the 6600.

No... not going to happen as it would mean soldering a new BT chipset onto the phone's motherboard.

I'm hoping to see some new BT 1.2 and 2.0 headsets out from Jabra soon. I see they have 2 already but I don't really like either of those.

BT800 works awesome on this phone...much better than on 6600. ONLY ONE DOWNSIDE...the fit of the BT800 is strange...secure but loose if that makes sense. Still only get caller ID numbers, no names but sound quality and anwering are greatly improved.

erpeters3 - have you checked with any people you've called? I've heard a lot of complains about various BT headsets having an echo. I'm checking out the BT800 and the logitech mobile pro. I'd love to buy something tomorrow.

If only Logitech or Jabra made somethingh shaped/fitting like the Plantronics CS50 but in BT 1.2 I would be a happy boy!

Here are some other new headsets I'm investigating - not actually testing (can't afford all the toys I'd like)

I've used the Motorolla HS850 and I love it. I'm not sure if its 1.2 or not but I'm fairly certain it is as its new. You can find them on Ebay for around $50 or so. Don't buy them at a local retailer, around here they back door you for twice that.

Thanks I checked out the HS850 and although I am FAR from a fashion plate, it looks too much like a cheap prop from the old star trek to me. I'm a geek but I don't need to put it in neon - it is obvious enough

I love the Jabra BT800. I know it's a little heavier than some others and not necessarily the best fit in terms of feeling secure (it is secure, it just feels like it's moving around too much) but I really needed a headset that had caller ID. I prefer to have my phone in a pocket/bag and not take it out at all.

On that note any other suggestions for better headsets with caller ID built in? Ideal would be something without an ear clip so wearing it wouldn't affect sunglasses.

Sony Ericsson HBH-662 (or the older 660, but it's only BT 1.1 so I would get the 662).

I saw some pictures of the HBH-610 at http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/s.../index.php?p=e - can't figure out if you can manually adjust volume or use an ear gel.

I agree with erpeters3, the BT800 works flawlessly with the 6700. I do have to switch ears if it is on for an extended period of time, but the clarity (on both ends), the responsiveness, and caller id make the switching of ears insignificant. I'm still getting use to it, and I may keep it in a pocket or loop it through the top button of my shirt until I get a call.

OK, I'm really only considering the Traveller and HBH-610. Has anyone actually gotten their hands on the HBH-610 or seen a real review of it? I've seen many pages listing the specs/sony pamphlet but no actual reviews/tests of it. I'm very tempted to get it but I hate to shell out $100 to find out it doesn't cut it.

I just bought the Cellpoint Flamingo headset. Its 1.2 and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I had a Bluespoon AX that I had been using on my 6600 but it fell apart.

Sound quality is extremely nice with the Flamingo and what was important for me is that it doesn't have a to go over the ear. It fits insidee and is very comfortable.

I have the Cardo Scala 500 and I think the volume is too low for me. No, I'm not that old yet! Does anyone know if this one is 1.1 or 1.2? I'm game for another one.

What performance difference is there from 1.1 to 1.2?

I just bought a TEKKEON ET2000. Its BT 1.1 but all the reviews I saw were great. $55 at newegg, Its small and inconspicuous which is what I was looking for.

I'll let you know once I get it. I was thinking the traveller too but it looks too big though the reviews were good.

I got it for $79 on Ebay with a car charger thrown in, valued at $25 (by the seller) plus shipping. Total was about $97 no tax. Figured I would need a charger anyway. The seller was "shaunasbargains" and they have some more but I don't see the deal with the charger right now. Good luck.
