Sprint already started selling this phone for $629 today!

And considering that the PPC-6600 folks (like me) have been wondering about this for months in contemplation of the limitations and "wish-lists" of many 6600 users, and they posted some questions: I at least shared the info I found.
The info's 3 days old on the site, but I didn't find it here when I searched.
And no, I don't care if another search found it, so don't post it.
I searched, I shared, and don't NO, I don't want a stupid pissing contest with ANYONE.
This is an upgrade opportunity of sorts for many of us loyal PPC 6600 users.
To anyone considering the "post it in the 6700 blah-blah-blah forum" BS, consider that at least I targeted my audience: those who have what I do and may want to know what else is available to which they may be interested in upgrading without switching OSes and especially apps entirely.
In no mood for a lecture,

No one here is lecturing you. Its just forum etiquette to post in the proper forum. This is a thread about the 6700 so one would believe that it belongs in the 6700 forum. That's all.
There are numerous pics and considerable effort put forward by some users who wish to SHARE INFORMATION with others regarding this newly-released device that seems, at first blush, to be an answer to some of the limitations that we whom otherwise love the PPC-6600 would be reasonably interested.
The best manner in which to communicate these potential improvements would be to communicate them to others in this forum.
Alas, one cannot do so without a few members deciding that doing so is inappropriate under their narrow purview and posting their objections to same.
At least Ehud is often amusing in his smackdowns, guys. When I'm not interested or not highly offended, I keep quiet. Others might find some use in the message despite my displeasure.
Want an XJS? Convertible or coupe? V6 or V12? PPC-6600 or 6700? Verizon w/EVDO or Sprint with Vision?
You don't know?
Let me share with you, as I hope you will with me.

No who is lecturing whom? I told you no one was lecturing you. Now you go on a tirade twice. There was no smack down, nor was there ever meant to be a smack down. That is not my place nor anyone else's for that matter.
(lecture) if you wanted to make your post useful to this forum you could mention what you liked and didn't like about the 6600 and what you think the 6700 does to address those things. Otherwise its just another announcement that the 6700 is out. Thanks but its been said in like 15 posts in the 6700 forum. Those that are interested would have looked there already. (/lecture)
Enough said about where this post belongs. Now, either post how this relates to the 6600 or expect it to be moved.

This is my final defense of a post I intended to be a contribution to those other PPC-6600 owners who wished for some functionality not extant on their current devices.
Most PPC-6600 owners wished for builtin WiFi. Most have expressed an interest in WM2005. Most have expressed an interest in EVDO.
That says at least "many" have expressed an interest in those things. There has been speculation a number of times about the follow-on device, the 6700.
Informing my fellow 6600 owners that most of their desires have been answered in the production of the PPC-6700 through Sprint is relevent.
Now move the damned thing or not.
Thanks to those whom, through a narrow viewpoint, help kill the spirit of sharing!
For Christ's sake!

**This is not a defense, it's petty rationalization and justification after not having followed the simple processes set out in the forum.

**In fact so many so, anyone who searched the topic would have seen that a 6700 FORUM was started, and they would then post the information they want to share THERE.

OMG that was gonna be my reply, HUGE LOL for that one! Sall good boys, I don't mind reading a post on the 6700 here now and then, and this one seems pretty informative and benign to me even though I've actually been following the 6700 forums all along. Honestly, while the better integration of the 6700 appeals to me, I have a major problem with the fact that it uses miniSD thus making my current memory useless, and more importantly the smaller screen. Also, I hate antennas so that's a turnoff. Looks like a nice unit, and should sprint fail to offer an EVDO upgrade for the 660x I might investigate it further, but for now the 660x does everything I want it to and is the right size and form factor for me. SPRINT, RELEASE EVDO FOR THE 660x, WE KNOW IT CAN DO IT, DON'T FEED US A LINE OF BS PLEASE AND JUST OFFER AN UPGRADE!!!

Whether it gets moved or not I could care less, however you do make a good point, most people here who care the least are aware of the 6700 forum, and as such if they have any interest at all (as I have had some interest) will visit that forum in addition to that one, I certainly have been checking in there...

Full user opinion ~ I have been using this as my sole cell phone and PDA since Monday 9-1-9-05.
By & large, this is a great unit. I believe I am indeed holding in my hand, the true next generation PDA/phone. If you are reading the blogs and forums, then you have obviously already read everything this unit does great. Here are a few personal experiences as well as rebuttals you may wish to consider before you drop up to $649.00.
The battery life or lack thereof seems to be most people’s main issue. This does not concern me for two reasons.
1. It is reported that with the New Windows Memory architecture, you are able to R & R the battery without loosing any setup parameters, settings or data. You may therefore, swap batteries as many times as you like without loosing any more than the time than it takes to swap the battery. I have had mine since Monday 9-19 and honestly, even though I use it heavily, I have not yet run he battery out between available wall receptacles or car trips.
2. Mini USB chargers for wall, car and solar energy sources are readily available. If you can afford this unit, you should be able to afford those too. It will charge andf sync with a simple direct USB to MIni USB cable. The cradle is just something convenient to take up more room on your desk. I have trouble fully seating mine in the dock/cradle without accidentally hitting the power button on the top left.
My biggest peeve is that though they claim this unit has 64 MB of RAM what they don't tell you is that only 43.5 MB is usable. I am therefore led to conclude, that the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS and other bundled programs consume 16.5 MB. Having come from an iPAQ HX4700, I find this falls vastly short of meeting my requirements. I have yet to procure a mini SD card and have yet to hear from ANYONE as to whether data on the card will sync with a PC using active sync 4.0. If it’s like it used to be, the answer is no. This will require a lot of creative shuffling in order to keep files and documents at home, the laptop and on the PPC-6700 all up to date. If anyone has tried this unit with a mini SD card, please let us know how it responds!
The phone works well however, the speaker lacks sufficient volume to use in real life situations anyplace other then in a church or a library. (In others words, in a real quiet place).
The 128 MB flash ROM seems plenty sufficient to handle every web site I have attempted to access.
Two interesting items which seem to fall into the “How did we let that happen category” are:
A. The support number listed twice in the Sprint Installation Guide which ships with the PPC-6700, rings into Samsung Telecommunications America and not to HTC who actually manufactures the unit or to UT Starcom Personal Communications (Formerly Audiovox).
B. In the phone “function” menu, the function of the “Speaker On” button is reversed. This is to say that you have to toggle to “Speaker Off” in order to use the Speaker Phone function and visa-versa.
A foot note of contradiction to a recent popular myth - Sprint would NOT grandfather in my unlimited vision services because EVDO is different and a step advanced from vision. I was told that I could stay with the grandfathered unlimited vision however, would NOT be able to get the high speed connection but rather the same old slow vision.
Windows Mobile 5.0 ~ Hmm… The jury is still out. I don’t like that you can’t manage your memory allocation as you can with CE 2003.
Though you are "Supposed" to be able to do so. No one yet at Sprint or Audiovox has yet been able to figure out how to "push" AOL mail though Sprint's exchange server.
All in all, I think I’ll keep it but may remain frustrated until someone comes up with a way to dump at least another 64 or 128 MB of RAM into it!
Oh By the way... If you are not yet a Sprint customer, you can buy one of these babies’s on eBay for only $349.00 after rebates with free shipping if you don't have a problem with committing to a 2 year contact.

So what is the monthly cost if you could not get EVDO at Vision prices?
