Today I tried to use my ppc-6700 as a modem. I did this with my 6600 so I had no trouble figuring out how to do it. To be on the safe side, I uninstalled the device/drivers for my 6600 and used the ones that came on the 6700's CD.
Well, all works fine...but...
Its SLOW man! I did a coupla quick speed tests and it was like 380/49....the next one was even slower than that!
Am I missing something, or is this the speed I can expect? Cause I was hoping for more like 700-900, not 300.
I hate to ask this, but I couldn't find it out using Google, and a hard reset necessitated a reinstall when I'm facing a loooong 4+ train ride and need mobile Internet access.
Does anyone know where I could find the files included on the 6700 install CD necessary to set up my device for tethering? Or would anyone be willing to post them here or to another forum?

If someone has done this, please upload the driver files you are using along with any settings you may have had to make.
Thanks in advance!
I still have the same issue as MAcGyvr, anyone has any hints/tips/success stories on this particular setup?
Can someone please discribe what their 6700 does when a wireless bluetooth network connection is made?
I am able to use my TomTom 700 traffic functions (sorta), but never see anything happen on the 6700. The 6600 would have a pop up and show internet access, but I don't see anything on the 6700. The only reason I know it is sorta working is that it can touch the TomTom servers.
I also have successfully gotten my PPC-6700 to work in both USB and BT mode. This is how I got it to work:
Start Wmodem from the Programs group.
Select the media you want to connect the laptop/desktop to the phone. Then click Start.
For USB, plug in USB. With phone having WModem running, instead of being recognized as a Pocket PC, windows will see it as a modem. The driver is included with the CD that came with the phone. When installing the driver, tell windows not to look for it and you will select the driver yourself. Point it to the directory ont he CD which contains the driver.
Create a DUN connection utilizing the CDMA USB Modem. Number to dial is #777 just like when you are using any program on the PPC which uses 1x or EVDO. Do not specify a username/pwd. Phone will take care of authentication.
Change the modem properties to increase the connection speed between the computer and modem to highest bitrate available.
Then just hit connect!
BT is a little weirder. Start WModem. Change to BT. Hit Start.
In Windows XP SP2 (which is what I am running), windows immediately found a new device (Standard Modem over Bluetooth) and installed it.
DUN was the same as before only using Standard Modem over BT as the modem, had it dial #777. No username/pwd specified as again, phone will do authentication.
Thats all I have done. I did the same thing with a box I have running Windows 2003 SBS. Havent tried it on a Win2K workstation yet.

Hope this helps maybe.
Could you try the USB connection on the Win2K box? It's starting to sound more and more like a Win2K specific issue ...

Yeah, give me a couple of days to set up. I need to get a new hard drive for an extra workstation I have (I do a LOT of computer stuff).
