Oops. Spoke too soon. The instructions refer to "start -> programs -> wireless modem". I don't see the wireless model icon or option in programs. did something change in WM5.0 or something?
I'm afraid there might be something ominous going on. I'm neither blind nor technologically illiterate. There is no wmodem in programs on my ppc. There is only the wireless manager. I literally just got my phone two days ago. I wonder if Sprint just recently stripped wmodem from the package, since I can't imagine this being a faulty OS issue.
Does anyone know where I could download wmodem for windows mobile?

I am both 1/2 Blind and as well, about 2/3 technologically illiterate and I found the Wireless Modem in my 6700. It is the last program in Programs and the icon is immediatly to the right of Wireless Manager. I have had mine since the Tuesady after they launched.
Do you really think that Sprint might have stripped it out of recent shipments because they realized that we are hooking up our PCs and using it for DUN? Was that not the intention of putting it in there from the start?

Don't know what to tell you. There's one icon to the right of "wireless manager" in my program group, and that's "word mobile". That's it.
I could imagine a scenario in which the program slipped past sprint and they yanked it out in a hurry. while trying to solve this problem, i've read forums for other phones and heard similar stories from verizon customers. don't know if they are true. all i know is i don't personally have wmobile. Is it possible for me to get wmobile.exe from someone who has it?
*sigh* yes, I'm really looking at this thread. It was very late when I typed that last message, which I immediately corrected. And I have since retrieved wmodem.exe from a friend, dropped it onto my ppc, and used file explorer to execute it. It definitely wasn't there before -- I searched the whole system. But its there now.

That is really interesting. Now I'm wondering if wmodem.exe is not installed on 6700's sent out in the last few days.
Anyone reading this thread who has just received their phones in the last two or three days please check your "Settings -> Programs -> Wireless Modem" and let us know if you have the Wlreless Modem in your unit or not. This should be VERY interesting.
On a second note: the documents in this thread don't appear to explain how to get things working via bluetooth. I've got wmodem installed and a bluetooth partnership between my PC and my PPC. Sorry if I missed this elsewhere, but... now what?
i'm still having the same problem with the wireless modem - it seems like after about 100k downloads, it cuts off - it works great for the first 100k, but then it just stops receiving data...
anyone else?

I just had a very interesting and successful use of the networking on my 7600. I was that a client's site trying to debug a system. I managed to install the Bluetooth software on the system and without any prior Bluetooth experience managed to get the system on the Internet through my 7600 with an EV DO connection, it only took about 10 minutes of set up!keep in mind , I've never used Bluetooth before in my life.
My programmer on the other side of the country then successfully used VNC to run my clients computer and do some additional debugging. The lag was very minimal and overall quite successful.
I received my 6700 last week from Sprint telesales (but that's a different and very sad story). wmodem is indeed installed on the unit and worked successfully on first attempt as a USB DUN modem. I haven't tried bluetooth yet but hopefully it's just as easy.

Anyone else? Who received their 6700 last week, ESPECIALLY late last week? Take a look and let us know if it has Wireless Modem in the "Settings -> Programs" folder.
Well, folks, I actually got wireless modem setup to work with a USB cable. I have been able to surf a little bit with the laptop and the 6700 without any problems or limitations. Setup-wise, It was a bit of a pain. Unfortunately, shortly after that I experienced a problem with my DNS server location/resolution in IE6 and anything else. Wouldn't even connect via Wi-Fi. I mean, I have network connection here in my home network, but couldn't even ping out. Weird. This is the second time it's happened. I THINK this started up after I installed Bluetooth and possibly after partnering the 6700 with my laptop to attempt a DUN vai Bluetooth. Not sure exactly. Wish I had paid more attention. But this is actually the second time I've run into this, requiring me to do a system restore on the laptop. No biggie there. The first time I encountered inability to bring up web pages, MSN messenger connection or even email, was after a failed installation of the drivers for the 6700 CDMA modem. This time it happened after a SUCCESSFUL installation.
So I'm wondering if there is somethign that is messing up my networking protocols in this setup?
If you tried pinging using an ip instead of a FQDN and it wouldn't ping, then you don't have a DNS problem, you have a network problem or a tcp/ip protocol/driver problem. Did you try doing a ping using an ip? I'm sorry this happened to you but its interesting and I'd like to know more about what happened and what you find.
