DUN via Bluetooth has already been confirmed as functional in another thread (by luv2chill). He just used what was on the disk...

The old 6600 .inf file also works fine with the 6700 via USB.

I have tried DUN but I can't get it to work with my Mac. Anybody who has any advice to offer, whether it is tethering through USB or BT, please help. I have a 14" ibook running 10.4.3

Needed: USB DUN How-To. Thanks in advance.

Can someone please put together a how to to use this phone as a USB modem? I am having no luck on my own. Bluetooth as well would be nice, but I am mainly looking for the USB directions. Thanks!

Here you go. These instructions are good and come with screen shots. The drivers and stuff you need are on the 6700's product CD in \OEM\APPS\CDMA USB Modem.

Enjoy.

Thanks! I am trying to be a good son and let my mom use this phone as her internet access rather then the unuseably slow dial up she has now.

Does your company block access to VPNs? I use that to get around a number of proxy server issues, particularly in China and the UAE. It works like a charm. Boingo has a free VPN if you sign up for their PAYG service.

Question for USB Users

I'm a 6600 user. The one thing I hate about using my device as a USB modem is the number of steps I have to go through (e.g. disconnecting activesync, putting the 6600 in flight mode, taking it out of flight modem, launching wmodem, selecting USB mode, starting wmodem, and then launching the DUN on my notebook), have they streamlined the procedure on the 6700 at all?

Wow that does sound complicated. You just go to wmodem on the phone and pop it in the cradle. Once the software is installed the PC will recognize the CDMA modem and try to connect. Dial #777 and you're done. Just take it off the cradle when you're done. Downlad that how to file and print it.

Using PPC-6700 as external Modem for laptop.

I could not find another thread that this would be better placed under so if there is one, let me know and I'll repost to that thread!

Early in the week of the 6700's release, while greedily devouring everything I could find on the creature, I read somewhere that you can use it as a modem through which to connect a laptop or PC to the internet.

I know a great deal about a few things however, I know very little about a great deal more things. This is so far beyond my understanding, there is no way I could figure it out on my own.

Can anyone shed some light on the issue?

Feel free to speak as though I were a Moron.
Step by step instructions is what I need.
Don't assume I know anything about connections, IP addresses etc.
Thanks for your patience with me and all of the great posts herein!

Thanks, Eric

luv2chill said that the drivers you need are on the OEM cd, but I found them in another thread:

The drivers are here:http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/a...&postid=277827

Using my 6700 as a wireless modem for my laptop

Could someone please point me towards detailed instructions that explain how I can use my ppc-6700 as a means of providing internet access to my laptop? Via bluetooth would be especially wonderful, but IRDA will do if necessary.
