I've gotten the USB tethered working no problem, but either I have a lsightly newer SW or something. Where do I go to enable the DUN setting to pair the BT modem. My laptop keeps saying that this device does not support DUN over BT. Any help would be most appreciated.
I am trying to setup USB Modem on my 6700 and getting stuck in the first step itself (this is really dumb !!). When I try to start Wmodem on the device, I get an error "Please end data call first". If I shut the phone, it shuts EVDO and the phone and I cannot use WModem. It looks that I need to shut down EVDO only and leave the phone on, but I am not able to do that.
If you use 6700 as a modem for a laptop, will you get charged any $ from Sprint. That is, if you have the Power Vision data plan, can you use the 6700 as a modem for a laptop without being charged any extra $, or is some other special plan required from Sprint?
No extra charges, even though technically it's against the TOS. But unless you get completely crazy with it and start running a server or something using your phone, they'll leave you alone. They won't, however, give any support if you have a problem even though they provide the drivers and software. - sheureka
Not sure if you download the driver I posted. If you have I am posting the Word doc instructions for the driver here. It may be helpful to yoiu anyway.
so I am going to florida in a couple weeks i just got my xv6700 for verizon, can i use my phone to access the internet from my laptop? what would i be using my airtime minutes or would it be data in megabytes?

Make sure you disable ActiveSync on the PDA. And if you've got the new ROM, launch the radio manager... there's an icon on the right that looks like a PDA with two arrows. If it's green, press it... this stops the EVDO connection.
Anyone out there that can send me a link to download, for free, a copy of 3 files I need for my pc to utilize wmodem on my 6700...CDMA USB MODEM DIALER.EXE, CDMA USB MODEM USAGE.DOC, and CDMA USB MODEM.INF. Thanks
Thanks for all the helpful tips on this forum. I recently got a XV6700 from Verizon and, as predicted, it did not work as a modem to the Internet via the EVDO network. I searched this forum and others for info on how to make it work and thought I'd share what worked for me.
First, the phone:
1. Open File Explorer (Start --> Programs -->File Explorer).
2. Near the top left select "My Device".
3. Open the Windows directory.
4. Lower right, tap "Menu" and check the "Show All Files" entry.
5. Scroll down to find "WModem" - the 24B version is the shortcut file. Tap and hold this file and select "Copy".
6. Navigate to the folder Windows/Start Menu/Programs.
7. Lower right tap Menu-->Edit-->Paste Shortcut.
WModem now appears in your Programs area. Start WModem, select USB as the connection type and tap the Start button. If connected to your computer via a USB cable, the phone is now ready to act as a modem for you.
Next, the computer:
1. On the CD provided by Verizon with the phone, navigate to the OEM/APPS/Drivers/CDMA USB Modem directory.
2. In that directory is a file called "CDMA USB Modem Usage.doc". Open it with Word and follow the instructions on how to install the driver on your PC.
3. Once the driver is installed, run the app "CDMA USB Modem Dialer.exe" located in that directory.
4. Username is your phone number @vzw3g.com, i.e. 1234567890@vzw3g.com
5. Password is "vzw".
6. Click the "Dial" button and the phone lights up and connects to the Internet.
7. Navigate to a website with a browser to verify the connectivity.
That's it. The key for me was selecting the "Select All Files" option in the file display on the phone. Without this, the WModem files that are there do not appear. Finding the directory with the files for the PC on the CD supplied by Verizon also helped a lot.
Please forgive the length of this post. It took me a couple days to pull all this info together and thought it might save others some legwork tracking down all the steps.
The above worked PERFECTLY for me and I am a complete NOVICE.
Now, I NEED to find a way to increase my download speeds on VZW.
I am averaging between 220kbps and 380kbps accorrding to CNET's bandwidth meter.
But, I still need more to stream video.

I have verizon service and have been using the USB modem. I got the bluetooth working last night with no problem. You have to enable it on the phone, start it on the phone, and then discover it as a service on your computer. To enable it on the phone:
On Phone, dial ##3328873
Enter Code 000000
Click Edit
Select, edit, and enable BT DUN
The phone will then prompt you to allow it to do a soft reset on the device. After the reset, on the PDA part of the device you will need to run WMODEM, select Bluetooth as the type of connection, and click start.
(Make sure the bluetooth radio is on, and that the device is discoverable.)
Then, on your PC, you will need to establish a pairing if you haven't already done so. Select your phone from the list of bluetooth devices. Tell the PC to discover services. You will see the bluetooth dialup networking as one of the available services.
Once you select the service (assuming you are using XP) it will prompt you to enter the phone number (#777), your user ID (your10digitphonenumber@vzw3g.com) and the password (vzw). After that, the bluetooth dial-up networking will show up as one of your available connections.
Hi,
I have a verizon vx6700 and want to use it as a cell modem to check my outlook email that normally requires my laptop to be on a ethernet connection via a VPN.
Is it possible to set vx6700 up as a cell modem either via USB or BT, but preferably via USB to possibly reduce overhead on the phone.
I just found out about this website from a friend and it looks great.
Thanks, Jerry
Hi,
I have a vx6700 purchased on March 10th and don't see a manager app on my device. You mention a newer ROM. How do I determine if I need that and will Verizon update it for me?
Thanks for the scoop.
Jerry

I'm not sure if anyone has posted in here about it, but I am confirmed up and running via BT DUN on a macbook pro running OSX. Pretty sweet! The speed is quite comparable to my cable modem!
